Daily Driver ??? and 0 to 60 times for the 997's

Any thoughts on a 997 c4s cab OR maybe a coupe TIPronic as a daily driver. It takes me 45 minutes to over an hour in traffic (bumper to bumper) to get to the office every day (90 miles round trip)

I've had a 997 C2S Tip for a little over a year and use it as a DD. I enjoy it very much and am always very happy that I picked the Tip every time I'm in traffic.

I drive a Tip as a daily/weekly driver and also my track car/autox car. 0-60 is only a few 10ths slow than a PERFECTLY driven/shifted manual. The Tip is faster on some tracks Like Barber Motorsport.

I drive my 997 C4S as a daily driver from NYC / Manhattan to Jersey city. It is a great car to drive daily and a blast on the track as well. wouldn't have it any other way.

I use my 997s as a daily driver on most days .. While I do regret getting the stick at times; I think the tip is the best choice for my situation

You will regret the tip even more when you have to sell it. Unless it is a lease or you don't care about the $.

Mine is a daily driver (manual). 12 miles to/from the office takes me between 20-60 minutes.

I thought the tip was an awful trans..sorry just my opinion. If you really want an auto, I would wait for the DSG tranny to emerge. For those of you who think the tip is only a few tenths off of a manual car are sadly mistaken. Even though Porsche rates it that way in actual testing the manual car are near a half a second quicker in both 0-60 and the 1320. A 997S has done 0-60 in as little as 3.9 sec, probably in the 4.1 range is norm, while the tip is in the mid (being generous) to high 4's. Same thing with the 1/4 mile.

Hundredths of a second or a half second does not matter to the average driver. Most drivers cannot even do the claimed 0-60 times that porsche and testers publish.

Just buy what is best for your driving area.

Good advice Byronmaui,
so what are you doing with a Porsche on Maui ??

I mean, the whole Island is only ~ 30 miles from one side to the other.

If you step on it , you fall off the end .
There can't be more than ..what.. 50 miles of paved roads (including driveways) and choked with traffic for most of the day ?

You should be driving a Jeep
( just kidding ) Lol

Aloha .

I own both,a 997 C2 and C2S in two of the most crowded places i.e. - India (new delhi) and Los Angeles ...

Apart from the obvious power/torque difference,I do like the stick shift far better... I do agree that Tip is better in traffic conditions ( per say) but it doesn't bother me if I have to drive a stick either... Maybe its just cuz most cars in India are stick shift and all of us living here, are trained for stick shifts, thereby we dont notice the effort at all..

But all in all,I would go for the stick anywhere, anytime , as I believe that I get to control my car better that way..

used the vbox in my friends Carrera S and had a hard time hitting 5 flat consistently. We did a 3k clutch fast lip that did throw down a 4.8 - best we could do.

Some other cars tested that morning = E63 w/ 4.1 (4.7 w/ traction off) and ML63 w/ 4.8
