Lontong,

I used to drive an SLK and I switched to 996 TT. What a difference! Get the Porsche, you won't regret.

I like SL in looks but 911 for power. Maint. cost is about same but I'd say SL is more reliable. 911 tends to have a few issues and weak spots such as tranny failure, rear main seal, squeaky interior, ignition and headlight switch failure.

SL500 is just too weak to pull the heavy car. If you are considering 997, you really should compared it to SL550 instead of a used 500.

If you miss convertible, just get the softtop 997. Nothing wrong with a softtop. I wanted a hardtop when i shopped but having owned a soft top for a few years now, no issues with it.

Yeah thanks man. But just unsafe driving a soft top in my country, i try contact the dealer to give test drive. But b4 that i think i should know better the + - of a porsche ( 997 )

In here we only have SL500 although the new one, but probably higher Specs than past SL.

This morning i look at my baby 55 and i still love him, but i dont know why feel need something bigger. Anyway thks man for the ex.

For 2006 MB replaced the 3vavle 306 hp engine to a new 4vavle 388hp engine which is listed in the brochure, whilst in the USA its dubbed as "550" to differentiate between the older 3 valve engine.

997S will take it off the line. SL55 will catch it with the relentless power and torque of the blown 5.5 engine. Rev limiter will hold the 55 to 155-160 but it will easily do over 185 if the limiter is removed.

In Asia, SL550 still stays as SL500. Why don't you wait to be the first one in Indo to get the new m3?

I thought you wanted the 997 C2S?!
Anyways,I agree with antz,if you are doubtful about the 997,wait for the M3.. But if you are considering the 997,just consider the 997C2S...
