19" on Base Carrera (NOT S)

Does anyone feel this ride would be too stiff?

I believe the S version comes standard with PASM and that would help make it softer. In fact, I *think* any Porsche with 19" standard has PASM. Anything with 17" and 18" I dont think has PASM standard (could be wrong though).

simple, get the 19s, and also opt for the PASM, you will regret it later if you dont.

By the time you get the good stuff like PASM, xenons, 19"s etc and then factor in the extra power I don't see why you wouldn't just get an S.

Correct about the S, but I am wondering if I can stick with the base carrera without PASM if the budget is tight.

i would get a lightly optioned S over a heavily optioned C2.
what is your budget? there are good deals out there. i would def. say get the pasm and xenon if you get the non-S.

I have an 07 Carrera with 19" Turbo wheels and do not have pasm, and do not regret it. The ride is great, much better than expected. Money was not an issue for why I bought the Carrera and not the S.

Sounds good so far. The guys on the cayman boards seems to think you should go for PASM if you get 19" wheels since it can be a bit harsh. But two different cars so maybe its not such a big deal on the 911.

My budget is about 75k right now. I could probably go higher, but I park in a community garage and have some concerns about theft/vanalism/door dings. I just dont want to go all out for a nicely optioned S and worry about it all the time. Rather go simple and then trade up in a few years after if I move into a place with a garage.

If you're patient you can get a fully optioned '05 C2S CPO for well within your budget.

It seems as if the market for used C2s is very soft.

This is actually a pretty good idea and I have been looking, but nothing has caught my eye ( I want some nice wheels and preferrably full leather). The prices on autotrader seem to be high. I emailed a guy recently and he wouldnt budge price on a 66k '05 base carrera with just a few options...started to give up on finding a good used one at that point. I think dealers are offereng about 8-10% off MSRP so I thought this would make more sense.

Got some good input about 19's on non-PASM cars and it seems like it probably wont be too bad. If anyone else would like to chime in..feel free

i say keep the carrera, there is no need to get the S just for the PASM and 19". The carrera offers a more comfortable ride while the S is a more sporty ride. it's two different animal. :=

+1 I hate when people who "DO NOT " own a 997 talk about the ride. If you want a soft ride get a KIA. IMO the PASM is a wast. I lowered with cargrahpic springs and the ride is great.

Honestly, Base car with 18s is the best combination of performance and ride comfort and it's easy to go coil-over if you want ultra-performance. PASM - I wish my S didn't come with it... I especially wish the car didn't come with 19s - I have 19s and 18s for the track and 18 is so far superior and look better to boot (what's with the trend to see all metal and no rubber?!?). Just giving you another opinion - and this coming from a track junkie
