Tire Question -Help

I need to replace my rear OE Contis and have been looking for tires online. Some places (e.g. TireRack) ask me whether my car has "TPMS" which I'm guessing is the tire pressure monitoring system. At the risk of sounding like an idiot can someone tell me a) how I know if my car has TPMS (06 Carrera) and b) what if any difference there is to the actual tire between a TPMS tire and a non-TPMS tire?

Also, TireRack seems to be out of the OE Contis at the moment. Anyone got a recommendation on where to buy them online at a good price? Thanks for the help!

Mike

if ur dash displays your tires' pressure then u have that factory option. if your dash dosent, then you dont have sensors. and the tires have nothing to do with the sensors, there is no diffrence!

Go with Michelin PS2's. I have conti's on my S4 and will never do them again.

You won't go wrong w/ Michelin Pilot Sport 2's.

Most likely a bit pricer than Conti's but PS2's seem to be the tire of choice based on user and testing reports.

I've got them (PS2's) on my C2S.

I also run through a Michelin Tire Test (Qualcomm Stadium AutoX Track) last week at the Porsche Parade in San Diego. Michelin outfitted 2 brand (<400 miles) new C4s's. One w/ PS2's and the other w/ Sport Cup's. The PS2's performed almost as good as the Sport Cup's in my humble opinion. The track was dry and tight so you couldn't get beyond 2nd gear.

They ask as part of the process because it would matter if you were buying wheels. Also, I don't think it is recommended that you replace the rears with tires different from the fronts.

It depends on what's more important to you..

Value = Conti's
Performance = PS2's
