I have a Passport 8500 X50 and I'm wondering if anyone has hardwired one of these using their hardwiring kit. I imagine I can tap into the map light or sunroof for a power source but the question is where to mount the mute button in a place it will be discrete yet easy to reach.

Thanks Anyone with something helpful? This is for an 06 C4S by the way, although I would think it's the same for all 997's.

 

You can hardwire with a standard phone cord, and skip their cord with the mute button. Easy from fuse box or mirror above circuit.

 

Thanks I actually found some instructions on Rennlist for a 996 so I'll probably use them as a rough guideline. I think I'd like to have the remote mute button so I don't have to reach up to the detector to mute it so I'll probably put it either in the cubby pocket under the climate control or under the dash next to the steering column.

I think you can tap into the wires in the light console. But it won't be switched. If you want switched power, tap into the sunroof.
