Decisions--found some 997's-
Well I found a few 997's and I wanted to know what you guys thought.
Option 1.
997s launch edition with 20K on the clock. 67K
Problem here is that the carfax shows it was a lemon and that Porsche had to install a new motor in the car????
Motor has 9k miles on it but the car itself has 20K miles.
Needs tires and service.
Option 2.
997s launch edition with 17K on the clock. 67.5K
Problem here is that the carfax is clean, however it has a supercharger on it!!
(Dont get me wrong I love that it has a supercharger on it, but I much rather know the whole history of the car-ie, bought new and driven by myself and not abused).
Called over to Porsche to verify obviously the car is NOT under warranty and anything that break non-related would be on a case to case basis and submitted first to Porsche USA...
Both cars will have to be shipped-$800-1500 open trailer depending on where and how soon.
I rescued the financing from my credit union and am basically ready to shoot in the next week or so--but I think I should keep waiting for the right one.
Obviously I am looking for a lauch edition 997s and there seem to be a few out there but those two listed are not too badly priced.
-finger in ear- I had a 997s lauch edition-CPO'd that the owner would take 64K for it and it had roughly about 23K miles on the clock but I could not close the deal because I was selling my car and about to go on vacation.. When i got back the car was gone and he got more for it.
Just another rant..but would you guys buy a car that was lemoned before and then fixed or one that has a supercharger and lord knows what might be wrong and has no warranty?

That one you linked to is the one that has the lemoned motor and replaced. Will also need tires and service.
They took an offer for 67K but my credit union advised me of the carfax themselves.
If i really wanted the car I would probably offer them 65K firm but I feel that there will be another one on the market soon.

I would not be concerned if the motor had been replaced. Besides, you still have over a year of warranty left .
I would NEVER buy one with a supercharger on it (except maybe a Ruf )
There are simply too many concerns , with obviously no warranty.
In fact, I would never buy one that even had extensive mods done to it .

i dont know if there are many launch editions with supercharger, but is the 2nd one maybe bpanos's old car?

Lemon Law Buy Back means that the title is branded. Kind of like a salvage title. If you are financing the car, most banks will not lend money on a Lemon Law Buy Back. Subtract 40% of it's value! Very difficult to sell. I would not recommend that you buy one.

Yup-My credit union felt strongly that i should not buy the lemoned one.
And considering the supercharged one I feel that honestly it would be something I would want to do myself but since its my first porsche and the fact that there is no warranty I would probably skip that one also...
I called the dealers to let them know.
But honestly the car that has the supercharger would be a great car for someone who knows what they are getting into and has the pocket book to fix parts that might break periodically.
