Do I need to break in my 997s?

I had a m3 that had stickers on the dash for the break in and I was not told if I need to break in my 2007 997s a certain way... any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

I "basically" followed the owners manual. Funny thing is the European owners manual and the USA vary in break in recomendations. USA is longer...probably lawyer speak.

The break in period is important. If you push the car right off the showroom floor and there is some little defect, like a missing or loose suspension part, you will find out at a low speed. More than the car needs breaking in. The driver also needs to fully get used to the car and how it handles.

Just warm the engine up to operating temperature and floor it! The rev limiter will tell you when to shift to 2nd gear. Your primary brake is the engine and transmission. The brake pedal is for emergency use only.

break in is not for the engine...is for your new brakes, pads, clutch, gear box...etc.
just 500 miles and then enjoy your baby!!!

I do not understand why somebody would pay $100,000 for a car and then not follow the advise of the people who design and build the car.

What correlation is there between the cost of something and quality? Do you automatically get better advice when you pay more for it? You only need to count the number of TSB's issued regularly by Porsche to see that they are shooting in the dark in so many of there recommendations and in so much of their engineering.

However, for the blind, I guess you have to trust that what is being read to you is actually accurate.
