"Exhaust? I love it. The PSE sounds great IMO. Already modded to be open all the time. Aftermarket exhausts may be 30lb lighter but I doubt that any of them will really make *that* much of a difference in power."

Your 'Launch Car' is 100% 'stock'. PSE wasn't a Launch Car option.

Great write up of initial impressions.

Good luck and enjoy!

Great feedback, fellas. Thanks.

When I went in too hot I definitely had the slow, grinding understeer that is so frustrating so first off - going in less hot and coming out harder might help. Working on trailbraking should help as well.

It's all part of the fun, eh?

Ultimately the coilovers + control arms should help w/ the camber.

I'm not too keen on optimizing the car for very tight autocrosses so I'm going to try and change my driving habits first.

Lifting is verboten in the S2000. Tends to ahhh... over-rotate very quickly.

Regarding PSE - the 1st owner added it after buying the car.

lig,

nice write up. yes all LAUNCH car has full leather.
Just like there is no substitue for Porsche, there is no substitute fore the s2000. it is a kewl car and for the money, it's one heck of a bargain. Most people I found do not know how to drive well and says it's slow. The s2000 has been one of my favorite cars since the invention of sliced bread. :-)

I can totally understand selling car due to lack of garage space. I hate keeping cars outside 2. :-)

thanks for the write up...

Excellent insights and impressions! Glad you're enjoying C2S. I really regret not getting the PSE...

Man, I miss my daily driver C2S...

I think you'll get over it after your turbo arrives.

Still haven't had time to hit it w/ the Menzerna. Just some hastily applied consumer wax...

I do feel a bit weird about posting pics of a totally stock car (except for the side markers! ) but what the hey... it'll be like a baseline.

Thanks, Chris! So far it's really been fantastic. Looking forward to learning how to drive it and some minor modding now.

Hey Mike -

Good to see you on the board! I know your wife is enjoying the GL. Nice interiors on that car.

I still haven't had time to really go nuts with this thing yet. SCCA Club Trial in a couple of weeks might be the first high speed event.

If you haven't done that - it's fun. Kind of like a *very* fast auto-x.
My S4 hit 125 on the front straight last time out and I expect the C2S to be a good deal faster than that!

Update:

2nd auto-x today. Bumpy course - some tight spots and some fast stretches. Killer in the fast stuff. Surprisingly (to me, at least) the car responded better with PSM and Sport turned off. I could get the tail out this time by going in and kind of tossing the car into a tight corner + trail braking. Getting on the gas allowed me to get some power oversteer which was quite manageable with pretty much just the throttle.

Lots more fun than grinding understeer.

When the car was in the Sport mode - I didn't like the throttle - a bit too touchy for my taste. It also skittered around in the bumpy areas. Turning off PSM and running in the soft mode really helped.

I'm not surprised at your results. IMO, the PASM sport setting is over-damped for anything but a very smooth surface. And I agree with your opinion of the Sport throttle mode; way to sensitive for fine modulation. I suppose one could get used to it by using it routinely, but I don't see the need. I'm not an autocrosser, but I can see where PSM would be preferred off for most courses. On more open road courses, I have not found it an issue either way, so I usually leave it on.
