blue smoke

Hello everybody !

I have a question please, my friend has just bought a 997s everything was OK but last week we realised that blue smoke was coming from the exhaust, we thought that oil was burning somewhere in the engine.
He brings it to his Porsche dealer and after two days they say that it was normal and that they has few 997 with this blue smoke. The dealer said that soon it will disapear.

So I would like to know your opinions and if someone here has already this blue smoke ?

Thanks

Is it constant blue smoke? Or did it occur when he first started his car after it had been sitting for a little while?

Hi Jimbo !

It happens when he starts the car but even when it had'nt been sitting for a while. All I can tell you is that it's true that he does'nt use the car everyday ans she only has 1600 KM for the moment...

thanks Jimbo

During break-in I remember having some smoke on cold start from time to time. I burned about 1 liter of oil in the 1st 2,000 miles and then zero oil since (5200 miles on the clock).

I have this too...

45k miles on the car but I have turned it into a track car so it only gets driven once per month on the track.... this week it was emitting smoke whenever it got started... any ideas on what causes this?

no lights on / oil level is fine / no other problems... just the smoke from the exhaust!
