I really like the Bridgstone Potenza E050's. great contact with the road, excellent tread pattern look (actually looks wider than it is), and they're a lot cheaper than the Michilen's. just make sure the tread rating is 140 (softer compound and Porsche recommended). They also come in 280 tread rating - lasts longer but less grip.

I tried the Toyo Proxy T1's - bad tire - added understeer, switched to the Bridgestone's and felt the difference, the car felt balanced due to tread pattern.

Problem with the Bridgestone tires is they weight a ton...

They are some 3-4lbs heavier than equivlent PS2's or PZero's.

Didnt think of that. Took a look at their specs and looks like the Bridgestones are 13lbs heavier all around.

 

They are a little heavier and actually 2-3 lbs per front and rear...nothing anyone will notice on the street or track days. The difference between my street wheels and track wheels are around 7-8lbs each and I can not notice any better acceleration between the 2.

 

Couldn't have shipped yet because they do not have them yet not till the 19th probably but by the 25th I was told back on 12th. I have been in contact with many people about this situation of not being able to get these tires...unless you were shipped the non Porsche N rated tires.

 

Actually 2lbs for the 235's and 4lbs for the 295's. Although 12lbs would be hard pressed to tell the difference, I would go ahead and spend the money and get the lighter tires..This all adds up especially if you get into the ligher wheels.

Where the Bridgestones are really heavy is when you move up to the 305's in the rear as TireRack has them at 34lbs while the 305's in the Pirelli and PS2's are weighing in at 29lbs. This is for the Porsche spec tires...

You can't feel 4lbs per rear tire on the car.

They just arrived today at my house. They are N0 (Porsche) rated. I got both front and rear. I live out west and they shipped from Reno, NV warehouse. Maybe thats why.

 

Filip, you are lucky!!!! Congrats! I could not get the Bridgestones acording to Tire Rack and my Porsche dealer until the end of September because none were in the country yet and they still had to clear customs! Damon from Tire Rack just a few posts up even says they are not available yet!!!! WTF!!! IS GOING ON HERE?????

I got the Michelin PS2's again but they cost $600 more for all 4 tires.

This whole tire thing between Tire Rack and Porsche has me pretty pissed off and is totally ridiculous. I have a really BAD TASTE in my mouth with Tire Rack and Porsche over this tire issue.

 

guess all you 18 and 19 guys are going to have to buy 20's now.... hahahaah

 

BTW, the Bridgestone are clearly available now from tirerack...they are listed as stock front and rear. I am needing new tires for my recently purchased 06 C2S...I wanted to wait until the first week of October but I am wondering if these may be out of stock again by then. Thoughts? Any opinions on how these would compare to the Continental Contisport 2? My car has worn out PZero rosso N1 on it now and they are loud...

 

M32911S - that was excactly the situation I was in. Bought my 06 C2S a month ago with P Rosso on it. The fronts were in good shape (7/32nd left), but the rears were down to 2, and humming loud. I was initially just going to replace the 2 Pirellis with new ones, but then decided to give the 050A a shot. Especially that I got all 4 for essentialy what 2 pirellis cost - and I am pretty sure they arent that much better in grip level. I looked at the Conti2 as well, but I dont thing that tire is in the same league as the PS2, Rossi and 050A.

I will report on the 050A when I get them mounted this weekend.

 

Sounds good. I am looking to order in a few weeks. On tirerack the Rosso's really do not have that great of a review...the 050A are far better as are the PS2. Even the Conti2 are quite a bit above the Rosso on there...
