exhaust one more time
exhaust one more time
I know this subject has been thrown around alot, but im trying to make a decision. the awe and the fabspeed seem to be the quietest out of the group. Which one gives that little bit more than stock without being totally loud? i did some searching on here but i didnt come up with my answer so help me out.
So Sorry to said this "AWE with blow everyone out of the water"

If you want your German P-car sound like a Italian car, Tubi is the way to go.

I like the PSE for the valves and ability to have it low when you dont press sports button or loud when you put PSM off.
Other wise checkout AWE and Tubi as I think they are from the few manufacturers that got the sound right on the 997.

Fwiw
I haven't done the mod yet but my brother has. After hearing the Tubi,Remus, and I think the AWE he went with the Remus. Unfortunately we are on opposite ends of the country and I haven't heard it yet.
what about fabspeed? anybody with that? no offense please dont take it that way but the awe just has sort of a ricey sound to it the tubi sounds alittle better IMO

Many have complained about droning inside at various RPM's with the fabspeeds. There are many threads on the subject.
If you want to change your mufflers, do it for the sound and forget all the BS about claimed power gains.
In my opinion, NOTHING comes even close to the PSE .
There are no droning issues and it sounds like a Porsche , not some Honda on Steroids.
And you get something you don't get from anyone else. You have the option to have it loud (very loud) or quiet when you want to talk to your passenger .
The PSE costs more. So did your Porsche.
In any event, if you decide to go with aftermarket stuff, keep your original mufflers, because if you ever plan to sell your car , you will probably get less for it. Most buyers prefer a car with it's original equipment.
Check with Sunset Imports 1-800- 346-0182
or Suncoast in Fl., or check with your local dealer .
It should cost ~ $ 1800 for the parts .
Installation (per Porsche Tech. Info):
330 Time units for cars with Sport Chrono
and an additional 150 TU's if you need to install the extra switch .
Retrofit TU's includes :removal of stock mufflers , installing new mufflers and associated wiring, tubing etc. and testing .
ps: if you car has Sports Chrono, you already have the PSE activation switch (Sport switch) If not, you can either install it without a switch ,but it will always be on loud, or you can get a new center console switch panel for ~ $70 .
You will love the PSE ( makes driving the car a whole different experience)

PSE = Porsche Sport Exhaust
The standard Porsche mufflers have three compartments .
The PSE mufflers have an additional set of exhaust pipes with vacuum activated valves in them which bypass 2/3 of the mufflers .
When opened, you get a MUCH sportier sound and maybe even a few more HP (although , unlike aftermarket muffler salespeople , Porsche makes no such claims )
Let's face it , with a NA engine, you just can't get any power gains to speak of from a muffler ,or headers for that matter .
The valves are activated with either the Sport Chrono ( in Sport mode) or an additional new switch in the front console .
