I'm tempted...been waiting for Borla forever and now with the problem they are having with the S over the non S as far as fitment is concerned I'm just really considering this. I love it loud but maybe with the high flow cats and headers it may be to much. Any thoughts please come on in...

The only concern you should have is your neighbor. Muffler bypass alone sounds like cup cars, i can't imagine how loud its gonna be with high flow cats.

hey dave, i know that "strtsweeper" on here has the bypass and the x51 headers like you. i dont think he changed the cats though.
anyway he has never really complained about the sound. i pm'd him when i was considering the bypass and he said that he was started to get alittle annoyed with the sound on the highway.
he had the pse before and thought it was too quiet. i think the pse is great and it is the loudest i have heard so far.
if this isnt your daily driver i think you should go for it.

Not to hijack the thread, but I still am not clear as to which muffler alone is louder between the fabspeed and the AWE. These are the two I am considering. My car is a daily driver and I think the stock exhaust is way too quiet...

honestly, i think both the fabspeed and the AWE mufflers alone are not much louder. i think the whole system cat/muffler/header makes the biggest difference.
i wish i could tell you because i will be installing the fabspeed mufflers, but i have since added headers and i think i wont be able to make a good comparison to when i had the AWE mufflers.
so far the pse has been the most noticeable for me, when i had the awe mufflers and was driving next to my friend who had the pse, it sounded like i still had my oem mufflers. not only until i switched back to oem did i notice the subtle differences in tone and volume with the AWE.
from what i have read on this site, the fabspeed is slightly louder/deeper than the AWE.

Dave is there a reason you chose the x51 headers over the AWE or other aftermarket ones?

There was several, the X51's even though they weren't equal length had large ports and the tri-log setup has shown to be very efficient as well. The next major reason was the fact that they were OEM and they cost less than $600.00. I got a good deal on the AWE mufflers from Raffi (which BTW I agree with him 100% in that the mufflers by themselves don't make much of a difference with sound) and the AWE cats I bought new and they cost what they cost. My whole system cost less than $2700 and it sounds great with a slight boost in power.

We should hook up again and compare...at low RPM the AWE's are pretty loud, it's just at higher rpm they kind of just hummm. I like it big and loud and juicy....

So I take it the Borla muffler is supposed to be quite a bit louder than the AWE of Fabspeed?

Since I am not *planning* on getting headers and cats, I am really wondering whether the Fabspeed muffler bypass pipes will be too loud with the stock headers and cats...hmm I wonder...

Well, my input is this...

I just installed the Fabspeed mufflers and they were used roughly for 2k miles. When I start the car, when its cold-ie in the morning or after it has sat a few hours there is no noticable real change from stock on fire up. Obviously the car is coming up to temp and you really cannot rev it anyway. First 2-5 miles you can hear it waking up. At this point when the car is at complete operating temp there is a much louder than stock sound. ITs deeper and much throatier than what the stock system sounds like. Small blips of the throttle will def. give you a smile but large blips will loose the throaty sound in a more of a stock sound. On the highway the sound is def. louder but from what I thought really was a drone is really just a much louder sounding exhaust. Have to remember the engine is behind me.

I know that if I add the sport cats, headers-(x51) and an intake the sound will be exactly what I want. Just have to pony up, but in the last 3 weeks I have had my car I think I have spent more than enough money and need to wait to do these things. Give myself something to look forward too...

hey Dave, we should definitely hook up and compare.
right now i have the ebay headers, ecu flash, k&N CAI, modified oem mufflers.
I should have the fabspeed and pse mufflers by the end of this week. i will likely install the fabspeed first since i can compare to my friends pse equipped car.
i would really like to compare to see if there is any difference with the way the cars pull with the different mods.
