CORVETTE ZR-1 = 205 MPH GPS verified

Like the title says, the 638hp monster reached 205mph on a proving ground with two passengers and equipment.

Enjoy

They need a more clear indication of the speed the car actually achieved...unless I missed something.

I was thinking the same thing although I have no doubt that 205 is highly plausible in that car.

I don't doubt it either, but I can already hear all the GT-R fanbois crying "foul"!

Much like how the porsche fanbois had to cry "foul" to the GT-R and say the mags were wrong when the 997 lost right?
GT-R=72k
ZR1=in the range of 100k..

Not sure many people are going to argue about top speed. Although the ZR-1 is faster in it, it's about what both cars do in the ring..

Although to get back to your point, the V-Spec is going to be in the same price range as the ZR-1 and is projected to hit 7:25 or lower in the ring. Should be an interesting battle...

Probably won't see a response from Porsche though

Is it really about what both cars do on the ring? I don't know about you, but the Nurburgring is several thousand miles of land and sea away from Tennessee, so I could really give a flip about a car's lap time there when it comes to making a purchasing decision. It's a fun little fact, but completely irrelevant, considering you'll never be able to replicate that lap time yourself.

And I could have just as much fun on a track in an S2000 as I could in a GT-R or Vette...it's just about being out there and improving your skills as a driver. Do you think guys at HPDE's are out there at the beginning of the day with their car magazines in hand comparing 0-60, 1/4 mile and lap times? And I promise you...GT3's and the like get passed all the time by slower cars...it all comes down to driver skill.

But I'll tell you one thing that's really hard to mess up...on an open highway with two cars next to each other. And the Vette will win almost every time...both of them, Z06 and ZR1. I don't know how any driver could muck that up. And you know that's where "who's number 1" will be decided...at a stoplight or on a highway. Not on a track.

So ultimately, you should just buy the car that floats your boat...the GT-R certainly makes an argument for practicality and it's a bargain performer, but the Vette is so damn sexy and it's everything a sports car should be...2 seats, manual, RWD, LIGHTWEIGHT.....

And one more thing...Porsche was never in the business of building bargains. They already have answered....it's called the GT2. They have better things to do than dick around on the Nurburgring all day looking to have the top lap time. It's sad how desperately Nissan tries.
