If you're a prima donna then this isn't the car for you. Yeah, there are some squeaks and rattles...yes, there's plastic everywhere. But if you're more caught up in the interior than you are with the things engine, then yes...go be like every other snooty woman on the block and get yourself a Cayenne or X5. For the money, no SUV or sport wagon beats this thing in the thrills department...and not too many cars either. It's a big, rowdy, no frills muscle truck.

Some of you making the "I don't understand the point of a sporty SUV" comment...well I don't understand the point of a luxury SUV. Why not get a CAR that's a hell of lot more comfortable, quicker and easier on the gas....or a wagon for that matter? I personally think a rough and tough, gas guzzling V8 powered suv makes more since than one lined with top of the line leather and wood....that's probably slow as dirt, I might add. Since when were sport utility vehicles about being luxurious?

And for the record, let's all be honest here...an SUV is an SUV is an SUV. They're all hopelessly pointless...they all get dismal fuel economy...hardly anyone takes theirs off road.

So if you're going to get an SUV, why not get one that's actually fun to drive? An SRT8 is for people that would like to drive a sports car every day, but need some added practicality and don't want to break the bank, as a Cayenne TT or E63 wagon/ML63 will undoubtedly do. And I'm sorry, but I would much rather beat on a $40k vehicle everyday than an $80k one. With the money you save, you can go get yourself a used Elise or S2000 to have fun with on the weekends.
You can write for me any day! Those were my sentiments exactly.

First post!

Hi all.

I am also incredibly intriqued w/ the GC SRT8. I think it looks great and every owner I've met loves them! I'd rather have it than a Cayenne. The back seat seems very tight on leg room though. My CTS-V seems to have more room back there. I have a 3 year old daughter and Mrs. Gottspd is with child (due in August) and I've been thinking of switching to a SUV to facilitate ingress/egress of children/child carriers. I like the FX45 too. On the other extreme, I've also been considering a Hylander Hybrid Limited (I love that it has an all electric mode). I'm afraid I may hate how slow it is though. I have a 20 mile one way commute to my office (which is almost always in heavy traffic), so that electric mode would be awesome.

My CTS-V gets 12MPG, so getting 25+ would be great. That said, I love how the CTS-V sounds and the feel of over 400HP, so to a small extent, the poor gas mileage is my own doing.

blue997 is infamous around these parts
gottspd - when judging the rear leg room, make sure to set the power adjustable front pedals all the way forward, this will let you put the front drivers seat as far forward as possible. The back seat leg room is not bad since you can put your feet under the rear seats, but your passengers in the back will be complaining about how bouncy and uncomfortable the ride is long before they complain about the leg room (apparently rear seat is much worse then front)! As for using it with young kids, note that the rear seats have the same heavily side bolstered padding as the fronts, this makes finding child seat difficult to fit and may be a bit of a problem to place in the rear middle. Since you are use to the gas millage, just look out that the range is not great, so you will be filling up a lot. Running the tank totally dry will be ~20.5 gal, so with some margin, in heavy stop and go traffic you will be lucky to get ~230-240 mile actual range. I briefly drove the new Cayenne TT w/the PDCC and I would say the PDCC is pretty amazing and the option of softening the suspension is nice. If money were no object, I would get the TT for how it drives -- although not a fan of the styling or having to pull the head rests to lower the rear seats. But for real life $40k for SRT8 vs $100k for TT, SRT8 was the way to go for me.
