Look What Just Visted Me
Love the challengers, I'd get one in a couple years when it's a bit more refined and the bugs worked out. Congrats to your buddy on a perfect color, well, unless plum crazy is issued!
(holy crap, you here too Dave!haha Aloha brutha!)

Unfortunately NO manuals til next model year.
I personally wouldnt buy an automatic car.
Its a beauty tho.
I would like to take it on a nice boulvard at night with a bunch of lights..
Kind of like a time warp. They do a lot of this in Orlando on Semoran Blvd at night.. Would be a fun night.
The Camaro SS will have less power than the Challenger, so I'm really not sure how it would "wipe the floor with it."
I am anxious to see what GM puts into the new camaro.
Hope there is an option for the Z06 engine with the 505 HP
If they are smart enough to do that,, Camaros will sell like crazy.
I have my fingers crossed.
A 427 Camaro (Z06 6.2 liter) would be a feat for Chevy.

There will also be an L99 engine rated at 395hp 395tq for the automatics.
Both motors are 6.2L
No mention of an LS7 option.
I would like to see a bit more HP and torque.
The Challenger has 425/402
The Shelby 500 has over 500 HP and gobs of torque I am sure.
Camaro needs to beef it up a bit UNLESS it weighs substantially less.
The new Camaro has the looks, no doubt about it,, the one in yellow in Motor Trend is so hot.
Lets hope 420 HP becomes 440 or 460 by the time the car is released.
I remember when the Camaro in 1967 came out with the 427 cubic inch engine,,, not popular then but if you had one now,, it would be very valuable.
This new muscle car era is going to be fun. Lets hope the govt doesnt put a stop to it like they did in 1973.

The challenger is so much slower because of its weight and gearing. It is kind of disappointing. I think they did a great job following the lines though. I saw a new and old side by side. The hood was practically identical.
The camaro will not have an LS7. That is chevy's prime marketing tool for the Z06. It would be a very bad marketing move on there part if you ask me.
And i really widh they would try to loose some weight in the cars before they add more power. Yes the GT500 has 500 hp but it is still pretty slow in anything but a strait line. It is to heavy to be able to handle well and is not balanced. These new challangers and camaro's will be the same way i think. They only reason the GTR are putting out these numbers is casue they are all wheel drive and have a state of the art computer system that practically drives the car. Not to much fun if you ask me.

I agree with what you are saying.
too bad tho.
I remember the Plymouth Roadrunner in 1968 1969,, it was HOT and had a 383 with maybe 350 HP but the car could run.
Wish they would trim some fat off these new retros and make them as light as their counterparts in the late 60s.
They do look hot tho!!! But will never have quite the aura of the cars they are replacing.

the camaro isn't going to be much lighter. Reality is, cars are getting heavier and heavier. I doubt we'll ever see a turbo again below 3500 lbs!
One of my fav cars of all times was the 67 camaro SS 396
they were HOT..
light too and fast.
Just as we are coming to the age of supercars again,, GASOLINE is repeating it self.. now they will have a slump in HP, just watch.
My Canary Yellow new 1986 Vette had abt 160 HP. What a shame...
Yes i think your right there is gonig to be a performance car slump in the next few years starting.
Im sure the weight of cars today has alot to do with the safty standards also. That and all the electronic that are crammed in the doors seats dash etc just add weight
