My 3/4 restored GTO... what would you do?

I need advice and opinions, so feel free to add your 2 cents.

I have a 69 GTO Convertible and have owned it for almost 20 years.

In that time, I've had suspension done, trans, motor... basically everything mechanical. Overall, the car runs great.

I know the car is not #'s matching, so even fully restored, it would never be worth top dollar. The car needs body work and paint, quarters are rusted bad, as well as some interior work. I've tried looking around the Philly area and all the estimates for half decent quality body/paint are a lot more than I want to spend based on what I believe the resultant value will be when I am complete.

So I played with the idea of selling it recently, albeit reluctantly. Did a few ads on various forums and got lowballed, then did EBAY. Bidding didn't even hit $10k.

Yes, the market is soft... one option is to hold it, and try to wait until later. But I have a feeling I'll never get more than $15k. Which to me is not worth selling. So, I'm trying to figure out alternatives... are there any? Or am I doomed to selling it for pennies and just moving on? This is depressing me so much, and I know it's kind of dumb, but at some point it goes beyond "owning a car"... 20 years is a long time. Any ideas / thoughts / solutions are appreciated.

Thanks,

c

If you are attached to it and really like the car keep it and work on it as you can. Numbers matching or not I don't see why a clean GTO vert won't sell over 20k.

KEEP. People always seem to regret selling these type of sentimental vehicles. Restoring it shouldn't be too bad if you're willing to get your hands dirty.
