I wish I could give you some feedback on how they perform, but I know I'd love to have one. I do know someone who has owned it since it came out and will never sell it (or so he says). They are special cars.

Your a rock star anytime you drive a FORD GT! Hope your not the shy type - wife hates riding in thing because people stare at you all the time so I had to get the windows tinted. In addition, get used to getting your picture taken - even at the gas station!

BLKM3, go down to SR some Saturday - I met a nice guy there with a GT (white/blue). He is probably on here - sorry I'm terrible with names. He DD's a C2S Vert if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, like you, I was considering the GT for a while, and wanted some answers from an owner. In a nutshell, he said it doesn't feel as small and direct as the Porsche, but he absolutely loves it for the heritage, looks, and grunt.

I also read from an owner in another thread that their GT on Motons handles better than his 6GT3 and 360CS did - only his Lotus on Ohlins handled better. I've asked for more info but no response yet.

I have always had a sweet spot for the GT. They are so rare that you can ALMOST forget about them (when considering potential purchases of this caliber).

I actually toyed with the idea of getting one to replace my Gen III Viper and from my research, they are much more composed and controlled than the snake, but still a thrill ride.

As for the mods, that's the case with almost any stock car. The Viper handled and rode like complete crap until I installed the KW coilovers and INVO tires. I'd imagine the exhaust for the GT would cure what ails you!

Not to mention the look of these things, low and wide as hell!

Good luck with your search.

Fantastic car and so much fun. I know where a real colectors item is. Its Robin Younts the pro baseball hall of famer, hes a good family friend of mine. I know his car is white with blue, still has plastic on the seats, and only 200 miles. Let me know if you have any interest. But back to you question my dad had a heritage car and the thing was so much fun to drive. Very easy gearbox to use, and plenty of power.

Driven a ton of cars, all the usual suspects, 911 turbo, murcielago roadster, ferraris, you name it, and the ford gt took the cake. You definitely need to throw some headers and exhaust on it, and I would for sure do a supercharger or turbo upgrade, but even in basically stock form the car is sooooooo much fun, drives incredibly well, and everyone loves you in it. You're a symbol of American pride and underdog victory (Ford GT history is great) and kids jaws just drop. Nothing like a monster V8 spitting flames as you down shift.... Plus I honestly believe it has one of the best interiors around. May sound crazy given its a ford, but honestly that car went straight from concept to production with keeping that awesome interior.

good saying

I have a saying about girls which somewhat translates into the car world and everyone's opinions.

Find the hottest girl in here and I can guarantee there is a guy that is sick of her.

The interior looks great. A perfect union of retro and modern design that still looks fresh today, and likely will for some time to come. Love the little touches like these illuminated *****.

They drive great but might not have quite the steering precision of a Porsche IMO. Still, better than say a Z06. The transmission is simply awesome and shifts like butter. You could shift the car with your pinky finger. These cars have great high speed stability. I've never ridden in a car that felt so safe at 200mph speeds.

If you are into modding, it is also a good platform. Couple thousand for a pulley swap and tune will get you over 600whp. Around 10 thousand for a whipple and tune will get you in the 750whp neighborhood.

Quick video of mine that is TT:

It's the icon of American made cars. Limited production...exclusivity....HP...classic styling... beautiful car.

They had a story about a driving school just for Ford GT owners on Willow Springs. That looked like fun. The founder of the school said he would get calls from dealerships telling him how new cars would roll of the lot in the morning and come back in the evening with the front end all smashed up. I guess most drivers don't understand how to handle the torque in a 3600 lb rwd mid engine car with huge tires ...

I loved how it was only slightly slower in the 1/4 mile than the CGT ...
