Fiat kills Viper
I just watched a video made my Chrysler where a Dodge PR guy spoke about Viper, it's history and confirmed that Chrysler has decided to confirm the Viper for 2010 and the years ahead...
It's on the VCA site and you can find it on Youtube I think, supposedly the video was posted on Oct.21 so this news that it was killed today sounds strange, who knows..
I know that years ago the next generation viper was supposed to be developed on a new platform along with a Benz sports car (which turned out to be the new SLS), so who knows we could see a new generation Viper as soon as 2011 or 2012?
anyway maybe they killed it but that decision would not make sense considering the video put out a week ago?

The "regular" Viper on the 'Ring list is a 500 hp SRT-10, not the 2008+ 600 hp version like the ACR. From a roll race, the ACR is actually slower than the normal Viper. The ACR is built for the racetrack, but all of those parts are bolt-ons and any Viper owner could copy the modifications easily. Rotors, wheels, tires, wing, splitter, shocks. Stuff that most enthusiasts tend to do anyways in any high performance car.
No myopia here just facts man. Ive never seen a hardcore "racecar" with heavy leather seats, AC, radio and 3360lbs. This thing is hardly hardcore imho. All it has is simple old school go fast stuff added to the regular coupe that, as was mentioned, anyone can duplicate. If splitter, rear spoiler and tires is all it takes to disqualify it as a bonafide streetcar then my 350z was also a racecar

BTW you are gonna tell me the Zonda F, Enzo and MC12 werent designed for the track as well? Ill even throw in the Konigsegg as well as it was also beaten by the Viper. For gawd sakes they have race suspensions, monocoque bodies, CCB brakes, aero as well etc. ACR has steel chassis, steel brakes, body add-ons and suspension. Just cant see that caveat making sense against this crowd or any for that matter. The Katech Clubsport Z06 is on the same level as the ACR and I consider both track focused "streetcars". I respect your opinion however and I guess we just have to agree to disagree

uhh...and the enzo, zonda, etc are setup for grocery getting?
theyre all track cars.......the italians are prettier and have fancier construction techniques....but the viper is simply faster. fact is fact.
actually, it's entirely possible that the majority of people would be much more likely to daily drive the ACR rather than the super exotics

So a SRT-10 Viper and a ACR is not that big of a difference.

The Moton III/IV gen cars are just as stiff if not worse then then the ACR's
If you think about it you don't want a cheap version that you own competing with your uber expensive 8C. Take one more of the competition out... Official release of the 8c here I think its a smart idea of Fiat's part, PLUS we might get a better alfa or lancia car out of it
For the cost of the 8C its pathetic, I'd be more worried of running into a normal 911 lol

ACR rides just fine. Probably no different than the C5 Z06 you have in your avatar. All Vipers are a bit bumpy by nature, but they aren't horrible. Besides, anyone who turns down the purchase of a Viper because they don't ride like a luxury car...probably schedules manicures and has their hair stylist on speed dial. Not exactly the targeted enthusiast for these cars.
