Ford Raptor!!

ok, has anyone bought one of these SVT trucks from ford yet? I believe they came out 6 months ago, and now they have a 6.2 liter 400+ hp engine option. Seen some of the videos on YouTube going 100 mph in the desert, sweet 4x4 truck.

what color did you go with? I am torn between black or white? I am about to order one with the new 6.2 liter engine. How do you like the power of the 5.4 liter in this truck? I havent been able to test drive one yet, but I would think with the 4:10 gears, the 5.4 should have enough power

I went with black. Very stealth look. White would have been my 2nd choice. It looks good with the black wheels. Mine is pretty loaded with options. The 6.2 should be nice. I couldn't wait until April or I probably would have waited. I test drove the 5.4 and it had plenty of power for me. The 6 speed does a good job with it. I didn't buy the truck for the drag strip. It's my boat hauler / logging road driving / hunting / snowboarding /bad *** looking truck. Build quality is impressive. I really don't have anything negative to say. I just hit 1200 miles in it. There is a good Raptor forum if you want more info. Decent bunch. http://www.raptorforumz.com

I'm looking for a new tow vehicle (getting rid of the Tundra). How much weight can it pull realistically? How comfortable is it for long hauls?

I had a Tundra and it wouldn't tow my 24' enclosed aluminum trailer empty. I really like the Raptor but would be worried it would have the same issues.

What kind of Tundra did you have? I have a 2007, and it tows my trailer and Viper to the track just fine. The quad cab is great, lots of room. Just trying to get something different. Thinking about an Expedition EL (third row, fold-down seats, almost as much room as a regular truck bed) or another truck.

It was an 08' Tundra (5.7? V8, the biggest motor) and just didn't tow that well. Only got 5mpg and swayed quite a bit. Traded it in for an 08 F250 HD Diesel. Had that for 12k miles and didn't like the way it towed and all the DPF issues it had. Finally went back to a 5.9L Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab and the Dodge tows the best by far of any truck I have ever driven. It is a pain to drive around town since it is so large but I would drive it over the 7.3 Ford, 6.4 Ford, Chevy 2500HD, Tundra, etc. I have towed with all of them and the Dodge 5.9 does the best.

How much does your trailer weigh? I have a lightweight aluminum open trailer, so I'm probably not towing as much as you.

I'll look into the Dodge... had a Ram 1500 but never towed with it.

Those are dope, and I would buy one in a minute if I was in the market for a new truck. What's the sticker on a nicely optioned Raptor?

The raptor is held to 6500lbs towing cap. This is because of the rear suspension, any more weight or extra high tongue weight will hurt offroad suspension. It will tow more but its not recommended.

Thanks for the info, I'll stick with the Tundra for now. It tows 10k pounds pretty easily for me.
