My new GT500! (NastyZO6 is gone...)
Aero, weight, aerospace derived components, lightweight frame technology, cubic inches, better braking, better handling, world racing heritage (winning).... you can even see in his well written comparison, the vette is better, he just loves the mustang. I understand, I wish I had all my old mustangs too...
Cubic inches?
Not really a plus IMO especially considering its still a push rod engine.
Plus a GT500 with a compound boost setup...that's pretty sweet, hard to argue a "vette" in general is light years ahead of that!

Is this mainly a drag car or is corner carving going to be part of the agenda? My friends 2011 GT500 with the SVTPP is getting mods soon and I am curious about this turbo kit. How is the driveability like in general, any problems with the car wanting to do strange things under power?

Different strokes for different folks, more cubes is definitely not a bad thing. Some of Ford's best engines (BBF) are also pushrod so don't let OHC's cloud your vision. As a whole you can't discount the significant weight difference aside from anything else, a Vette will be faster given equal power no matter what you do to the GT500. That being said the GT500, especially 2010 and new and with the SVT Performance Package is a surprising car. Not for its speed but more so for its handling, it carries a surprising amount of speed into and through the corners for such a big and heavy car.
I'm disappointed.
Very cool car indeed,...badass,...i'd own another cobra if I was able...not knocking the car but,...after owning a Cobra,...then a vette, I prefer the vette. I understand if you need a back seat or something,...maybe need a little more room,..I dunno.. very badass ride, indeed, just think the vette is lightyears aead.
Have fun with it though, sounds like you are. What are you gonna do about your name now lol? Thats like having a tattoo of some ol girlfriends name on your chest or something.
lol
just ball busting...

It's all good bro! It was time for a change and I really, really enjoyed my ZO6. It is a great, bad *** car! As all of us car guys know...sometimes change is a good thing and we just can't get enough...of automobiles that is!
I'm glad I did it and am enjoying my new whip. Who knows what will be next?!
I gotta PM a mod to see if they can/will change my name! LOL
Hope all is well bro.

Nah, a 'weekend warrior/toy' mainly. Driveability is like stock. Only 'strange' thing it does under power is melt tires/goes a little sideways! lol. No, nothing out of the ordinary under power.

Thanks Thrift!!!
In reality,..you could boost anything. Hell, if your saying compound boost is exotic, well, we did that to one of our saturn redlines a couple of years ago...maybe 4 years ago. It was cool, in the end, on that vehicle, we ended up turbo only. As far as your pushrod comment,...maybe you should look up TOPFUEL....and see what kind of valvetrain resides in the worlds fastest accelerating cars.
As far as cubic inches?....Anyone will tell you...the substitute for cubic inches is boost, well, boost a 7.0.
Not knocking the car holmes,..just saying, outta the box, one car is a few steps ahead. 700rwhp,...is BAD AS F***!!!! I don't care what it is...again, I like the car,..if I could, I'd own a couple.

Interestingly enough the Supercar 5.4 with only a few changes will make 1,000 to the tires with twin turbos and the stock fuel system. What a beast of an engine the 5.4 S/C is.
I have to agree as respectfully as possible as someone who has owned both cars. I have to admit Mustangs are a lot of fun, our project car has a GR40 package on it and about 348 rwhp and its a track/ handling beast...but then again its not a Corvette.

Agreed,...the GR40 suspension,...is wicked. It would be a dream to have it on my notchback lx.

Cool deal man. Have fun with it. Saw a blue one today...and thought,..it is pretty badass looking.(that was stock)....
Nice job on the name change lol.
I didn't say it was exotic, said it was a sweet setup, which it is at least IMO, I think it would be a fun car perhaps even in a saturn!
Sometimes keeping something simple and cheap suffices for the very specific unchanging environment in which it is being used.
Boost a 12.0, 20.0 etc etc. You get diminishing returns in multiple ways, one of them being a really ugly odd shaped car
. Advanced technology allows for more hp/liter which isn't a bad thing.
I am a big fan of z06s, and would agree the z06 out of the box is ahead of the gt500 out of the box. However, a vette in general not so much. Especially not compared to this gt500 which is way outside its original box!

PBIR is where I think these guys go.
There is a white compound boost 1000+ hp car and a KB car Alloy Car. Tony and Andy are the owners.

Cool! Thanks for the info...I hope I run into them to chat when the weather cools off some down here! (in about 6 months! lol )

Sometimes, not always.

Agreed, to a point. But, tell that to the Le mans winning Corvette team.

Lemme know. I am only 1 hour away from there, and I am hoping to make several track visits at PBIR as well. Keep in touch,
