Shelby GT350R vs Shelby GT 350..???

GT 350 R

I have been interested in the Shelby GT350R. I have a friend of mine that recently received his and he said that he loves that car over his huracan.
When I was doing my research the differences in the GT350R and the GT350 are actually really minor.

I came to the conclusion that the GT350R is 130lbs lighter, has Magneride adaptive dampers, the anti roll bar and springs are stiffer, and you get a carbon fiber spoiler. The weight difference comes from the "R" not having rear seats, AC and a few minor changes. You pick up 2 MPH in the Standing 1/4 Mile.

Can anyone tell me why its better to get the GT350R over the GT350?

The resale gap between those cars will be substantial and will grow over time. If you're going to put a bunch of miles on it and not track it the base model is probably right for you.

Doesn't the R version also have carbon fiber wheels? I believe that is where quite a bit of the weight savings is from. I agree the resale will be better on the R, but who gives a **** about that when they are already selling for so much over MSRP? I honestly question how much a car can be ultra collectible today when they are always willing to sell so many...

**edit**
The 350R does have CF wheels. Saves 58 lbs. I wonder what the replacement life of the CF wheels is? I highly doubt they will last indefinitely. That means eventually everyone with a 350R will have one hell of a maintenance bill.

I thought the only real difference was the weight savings from the carbon wheels(wider tires 305/315 size and cup2 tires ...regular 350s come with super sports 295/305 tire size), AC delete which you can add back in, radio delete which you can add back in, and R comes with cooler red stitched recaros and no rear seats. I believe all have the Magna ride. 2016 350s the track pack option came with stiffer springs and strut bar.

2017s add track features(magna/spring/coolers/strut bar) standard but you can get the nice seats(heated/cooled) or upgraded stereo w/ recaros.

I have a 2017 350 w/ the "convenience package" which is all the track options plus heated/cooled seats upgraded stereo w/ nav.

Id love to have an R but the markup is too crazy for me. The R will hold its value better bc they made less but really the only other benefit is the carbon wheels. I guess unless you a baller and just want an awesome track car.
