Considering pickin up a used SL55, heard rumours new model will be released in 09 others says 2011. Anyone have the inside scoop?

 

there will be a 63 or 65 - will be a black series type... late next year i think

 

The SL55 will most likely be getting a fairly major face lift for 09 with CLS-type headlights, new hood, front bumper, and grill - basically the whole front end will be changed

The 63 engine is not assured for the SL class just yet, and considering the SL55 engine was revamped for 08 its make its even more difficult to determine - the engine HP went up from 493 to 510 and tq. went from 516 to 531

The 63 and 65 are 2 totally different engines, the 65 will be there to stay - whereas the 63 is the n/a V8 that has been put into all the new AMG cars (de-tuned from the new C Class AMG) the 65 is a bi-turbo V12 with insane Hp (604) and insane tq (738)

 

Who knows there might be a Twin Turbo 63 engine, but I think thats unlikely as it will affect 65 AMG sales.

 

Ive heard the facelift wont be until 2010. The earliest I would anticipate it would be mid to late 2009(to arrive at dealers). Your best bet is just to pick up the car and enjoy it and trade up later if you want.
