Guys,
Any advice on replacing my windshield? On all of my other vehicles, whenever I replaced the original factory installed windshield, the replacement would always whistle at speed. Should I only allow the dealership to do it, How much should I expect to pay. Any advice from prior experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Dealer almost always contracts out and you wont get much change, actually might cost more than $1k out the door.

Bust out the yellow pages and make some calls to local windshield repair guys, or even go through your insurance agent to find out who they use, some policies include repair / replacement.

Dealer would be my last port of call however if you know your SA well he might tell you who they use.

 

oh, and insist on OEM part replacement!

 

Thx Gmoney. I'm hoping someone knows how to do the job correctly! On both my M5 & M3, they whistle at speeds above 80mph!

 

I have a nice chip in my windshield but have held off replacing it due to the fact that most glass suck!!! My X5 had crack took safelite 4 tries just to get auto wipers to work...u could just imagine what it looks likes after 4 tries...HACK!!!! thankfully its a lease.

 

Windshield on my Gallardo cracked once. Insisted on OEM glass replacement. New windshield was just as good as the original.. even better, it had no chips in it . Btw, all $3600 was covered by my insurance policy.. you might want to look into that.
