I have a "ticking noise" that's driving me crazy. I have a 2010 GTI 4 door and wondering if anyone who has a GTI or any other VW is hearing a "ticking noise" at the driver side and passenger side window where the glass meets the weather stripping(close to your ear). It seems to happen when the car sits out in the sun for a while and will stop after the cabin is cooled off (roughly 10-15 minutes of driving). I've taken the car to the dealer numerous times with no luck; they've adjusted the striker, door latch, and adjusted the door itself and still no fix. I'm hoping to hear back from anyone who has experienced this problem and can shed some light on what the problem is and the fix.

I have a 2011 Golf TDI with the same exact symptoms as your car. The noise is driving me insane. I'm beginning to question my mental state while driving.

Have you found a solution? I'm getting desperate, and the dealer refuses to acknowledge the sound.

 

I'm sorry to hear that; I went round and round with my VW dealer trying to stop the "ticking". I even had an "expert tech" come in from out of state to look at it. There was no resolution in my case; they basically told me "sorry". I think it was the rubber gasketing rubbing against the window. Anyways, I was sick of it so I got rid of it.

 

Thanks for the reply. My dealer has driven it a couple of times, but they always claim they cannot hear it. Everyone who rides in the vehicle can hear it, except for them...
