Looks like pretty low activity on this forum. My wife is interested in the Jaguar F-Pace. Anyone with experience on this car? I know it's very new. I've always relied on forums like these to get the real scoop on cars in which I am interested.
For anyone out there who owns one -
What are the weak points?
What do I need to know about ownership?
If I look at pre-owned, what are the details on wear, or weak components?
We drove the F-Pace SVR a couple weeks ago and it was very nice; however, the only seats one can get in that model are very firm, almost too hard to live with on a daily basis. The seats in my 991 GTS are much better. Otherwise, the other models such as the Sport would be a nice compromise and I recommend a test drive to experience it yourself. By the way, we have moved on to considering the Velar.
Funny you mentioned the Velar. We first saw it introduced at the Phoenix Auto show. My wife really liked it to sit in. Fast forward, we tried a test drive of the Velar and the F-Pace. She ended up liking the F-Pace better. We purchased the Prestige model. We looked seriously at the S, but preferred the 19" wheels over the larger 22s. The 19s have a 55profile so lots of rubber between the road and driver comfort.
We've had it for two weeks now and both love the car. Supposedly, the Velar is on the same platform as the F-Pace. We haven't owned it long enough to get a good pic, only this one:
Yes, the F-Pace and Velar are built on the same platform. We want the V8 model and since the Velar will only have it for the 2020 model year we plan to order one in the near future. If the F-Pace had the Velar's seats we may have been ordering it since the F-Pace is more sporty than the Velar with the same engine; however, the Velar is quicker.
So, wife has had her F-Pace for a few weeks now, call it a month. She (we) love the car.
The car is Youlong white. That is the white metalic. Looks close to a pearl white. She has the blackout package - wheels, all the window trim, the front grille and surround. On the back, the emblems (in 3 places) are in chrome. Tailpipe tips too. I did a modest little mod and blacked out the 3 emblems. She likes this look better than the chrome. Next I'll probably do the tailpipe tips. This is easily reversible, back to stock factory, so, if we, for some reason want to go back...
Thought I'd update this thread. Approx. 8 months into ownership of the F-Pace and we are just elated with this car. The SC V6 is a real performer. We took the car on a road trip to Vegas back in early December. Anyone who lives in the Phoenix area knows the drive on 93.
Car is quick, agile and comfortable to drive the long miles. The SUV part makes it a bonus.
