BBi Built 997 GT2 hits 200mph in the half - Powered by Xona / Forced Performance
I wanted to share my experience from the NoFlyZone Arizona event this weekend, I thought you guys might enjoy.
I reached out to Robert at Forced Performance to have him spec a set of turbos that would be responsive, but still push the car to 200mph or more in the standing half. All I can say is WOW! He delivered and this thing moves. The turbos respond like the old school Alpha 3076's, but put out significantly more power. Robert has some secret sauce in these XR7164S.
The entire car was built and put together by BBi Autosport. To their much due credit, the car ran flawlessly, pass after pass after pass. Not a single issue. None. No weirdness, no leaks, no questionable experience. It just delivered, time after time.
This car has more in it from a MPH perspective, 0-60 and 60-130 times need major improvement, but this was my first experience behind the wheel of it and we didn't start rolling in power to well over 100mph. The turbos respond so damn fast that we have to use other techniques to keep boost out of it, versus just wastegate duty cycle. With normal throttle actuation, the turbos will not boost less than 25psi. They run super efficient.
Once we figure out traction in the lower gears, launch control and a more seat time, I hope to see 60-130 in the high 3's to low 4's.
I can't say enough about the BBi crew, it was a real pleasure spending the day with them at the track. Looking forward to the next one!
