Is this the sign of transmission problems?
My parking garage requires me to drive up a steep grade to get out. As I start the climb there is a point where I need to accelerate more to go up the slope. As I push the accelerator down slowly, the car at first doesn't move and then it kind of lurches forward. In other words, power isn't going to the wheels in a linear manner, there is kind of a gap before it kicks in. I'm worried that this might signal something with the transmission? Although I know there are many things with this car that sound bad but are normal (like making a very tight turn at low speed and hearing a grinding noise in the back wheel - it seems like we have all decided that's ok) - what's the verdict on this one? Thank you!
Maybe time for a fluid change? Maybe the fluid is a little low or some of the additives are no longer doing their job and since its a steep incline it puts the vehicle at too much an angle so the fluid isnt getting pumped properly until you give it that extra throttle then it starts to go.
How many miles on the car? Has the trans fluid ever been changed? If so how many miles are on the trans fluid?
