Tow Package Hitch Connector Not Working

Hello, I just bought a used 2013 Cayenne Diesel with the factory tow package but I can't get any of the trailer lights or brake controller to work. I have wired up the brake controller with the VW connector and the car already came with the Pollak 7 pin connector. I also checked to make sure the hitch controller was installed on the passenger side in the trunk. Checked for 12V on the connector while the car was on and there is no voltage. When I plug in the trailer nothing comes up on the dash. I turned the headlights on and also the hazard lights and nothing. What should I do? Is it possible the hitch module needs programming again?

Also checked for continuity on fuses 5, 6, 7, 8, 40, and 42 on the passenger side and they were all good. There was no fuse 40 installed though. Hitch module shows up on the Durametric but I'm not sure if that means it's already programmed or not.

Thank you.

Trailer Hitch Module

I have the same problem with a similar 2013 Cayenne Diesel with the factory tow package.
I've used the trailer hitch/lights for years, but now I do not get the trailer lights to work.
Did you ever resolve your problem?
I wanted to replace the hitch module but I'm not willing to pay the fee for Porsche to reprogram it.
I was thinking of buying a used/programmed module.
What do you think?
David

Did you get a scanner to see if there are any issues with the hitch controller? Any idea why it just stopped working? I think even if you got a used one you would have to get it programmed. Try removing the screws of the plug on the bumper and making sure the connector there is plugged in properly.

I know it's been many months, but I had this issue on my recent purchase, 2014 Turbo S. Turned out to be the red wire was pushing out of the back of the factory connector instead of connecting. Somehow the tab on the spade was broken, so when you pushed the trailer connector in, it just pushed the wire out. I replaced the whole factory connector, by splicing in wire by wire.
