Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance Review

As Elon recently said Lucid cars are a dumpster fire I figured this is where I should post this as there's no specific Lucid sub-forum.. I got a chance to drive and review the new Lucid Air GTP and it was fantastic. I like Tesla's, recently reviewed a Long range Y and had a great time. I think both cars are great, Tesla is the Icon in the segment and Lucid is the new kid in town. Not to be ignored.?

100% agree that Lucid should NOT be ignored. Couple of things for me on this car. WAY too expensive of a car. To furher my view...I loved cars with options and gizmo's in it. Then I drove a Model Y and discovered how the simplicity of this car blew me away. All the things I truely need in a car are there. All the other options like interior lights, headliner star lights etc...all that stuff is fluff...NOT needed really in a car. Maybe I'm getting too old, but I love tech and my house is all tech'd up. So there is a phrase, Too much of a good thing....! So in looking at the Lucid, I declined because of the pricing for the car v value of the car AND way too new of a car to invest that much money in.

Another issue was charging of the car. The ONLY charger you can get is a 220v plug in charger, which does not come close to the 220v 48 A charger that Tesla offers. It's hard wired to the breaker and gives maximum charge outside a supercharger. Now..Lucid maybe able to use Superchargers soon, but when I was looking that was not an optioin. ( still isn't an option yet ).

I cannot hang my funds or hats on a car that we don't know will or can survive. I did not buy a Tesla until 2023 because I wanted them to prove to me they are a company that will be around and support the car. The improved the build quality of the cars so that's a plus. All manufacturers have issues. I ened up suing Ford for my 2020 Explorer and the issues I had with it. So saying anything bad about Tesla doesn't really hold water to me since all car companies cut corners and have issues. Even my Porsche Panamera has issues.....so spending money on a car does not relate to reliability.

The biggest issue I have had with my Y is my mobile key working. Did a reset and things seem to be working just fine for now. I had to get a repair done on the car cause I hit a blown tire on the road and took 28 days to get the car back...that sucked...but it is what it is. =)

See how Lucid does. I'm in a 3 year lease on my Y, so either I will consider a Lucid then, or Polestar, or maybe a revised Y will be out. But I'm totally leaning towards a Y since the SUV is so much fun and does all my needs 100% of time...not to mention I'm smoking all those GT Mustangs that think they are fast !! LOL
