Board members: I posted a "WTB: 2012-2014 Vanquish" here on the Aston Martin section of the board earlier this morning and the moderators moved it to the "Automobiles for Sale" section. Which is fine.
However, I did want to have something here for the Aston Martin crowd to let you all know of my interest in acquiring a Vanquish to keep my 2013 Vantage company. Would love to hear from anyone who has some recent opinions or insights into the Vanquish. All my "fun cars" (only some of which are listed in my signature, which I have tried, without success, to update) are all manuals. But I'm willing to forego the pleasure of shifting for myself to get into a Vanquish.
Any comments, observations or leads on a really nice Vanquish (not black, however!) would be much appreciated.

Just FYI, that Vanquish model came out in 2014 and ran through 2018, 2012 was still the old DBS and there was no 2013. Also be aware that even though the Vanquish only sold for 5 years, there some significant differences year-to-year.
I'm looking for an early 2nd generation Vanquish, built on the VH platform, with the 6 speed transmission. My understanding is that the upgrade to the 8 speed tranny occurred with the 2015 model, which I would consider but am concerned that it is as bit outside my budget. Let me know if I am misinformed.
Got it. Thanks for setting me straight. I have corrected my WTB post to indicate a search for a 2014-2015 car.
I have been interested in seeing the differing opinions re: the 6 and 8 speed transmissions. The guy from Bamford Rose seems to prefer the 6 speed but there are those out there who tout the merits of the 8 speed.
The search continues.... Thanks for the information and encouragement.
I’ve posted this information previously but here are the differences between the 6 speed and 8 speed Vanquishes:
I agree that you should buy the the Vanquish that you are drawn to regardless of year but please note that there were more changes starting in 2015. Other changes, besides the (lighter, quicker shifting) ZF 8 speed include: - Bosch engine management - Lower final drive ratio (which cuts a half second 0-60 time) - 15% stiffer front dampers - 35% stiffer rear dampers - 20% stiffer rear suspension bushings - Retuned brake booster and DSC system - Retuned steering ECU
All these changes were intended to make the Vanquish a more engaging car to drive which I found to be the case. You need to drive examples from 2014 and 2015 to see if the changes are worth it to you.
I think the reason the 2014 models are less expensive that the 2015 is because most people prefer having the 2015 changes with the new transmission. Having said that, what you get for your money with the 2014 models is tremendous, so if you are budget conscious, its certainly the way to go. It's not like there's anything bad or any issues with the 2014 cars.
Im too looking to add a vanquish next to my vantage. Test drove 14 awhile ago and today test drove a 18 S, in white, (not my preferred color) defintely S is lovely, with all upgrades, sound, power. I'd love to buy an S, but have to find the right color and hard to get a deal on S vs non S vanquish. I'm in no rush, but something comes up I'll jump on it.
The Vanquish is a lot different from a Vantage. The Vantage is a more engaging sports car. The Vanquish is more of a touring car. I have had Vantages a DB11 and now have a 2016 Vanquish. Everyone told me that I wouldn’t ever drive the Vantage after getting the Vanquish. Wrong. They are so different from each other. There is some truth to the saying that it is more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. From what I have been seeing, ever since the third generation Vanquish came out the second generation cars have been increasing in asking prices.
Thanks for all the good input, guys! Of all the cars I've owned, my 2013 Vantage V8, 6 speed is my favorite car. And not included in my signature are 2 great Porsches (2014 911 and 1997 911) plus some other stuff. The Aston just has such wonderful presence. And it is a LOT prettier than the P-cars.
I know the Vanquish is more of a true GT car. I want the V12 experience and have long loved the way the Vanquish looks. Just look at Gene's beauty above! And has there ever been a better name for a car than "Vanquish"??!! So the search continues.

Totally agree, we have same taste, I have 13 v8 vantage manual, when I drove the vanquish it's definitely different car.
