alarm service
So i have an Alarm system service required message on tach screen. when I plug in my scanner I can't find an y alarm or system that tells me what the problem is. Just thinking . Could it be the batteries in the key fob?
Usually turns out to be dead batteries in the alarm sounder, tucked up behind one of your wheel arch liners. Some have been able to replace the (non-replaceable) batteries but in many cases the batteries have leaked onto the curuit board and you need to replace the whole thing. Might be a Land Rover part.
My battery had corroded the circuit board - I replaced mine with a Volvo part 6C9N-19G229 and then replaced the batteries in them with some rechargeable batteries of same spec from ebay. Apparently Land Rover part 7H22-19G229 works too.
Left side. There are a couple of versions of the part depending on what your car came with.

well I took the front inner fender off to replace the O2 sensor Bank 1 #1 code fault. No alarm box in the front fender DS. I think it's in the rear fender well per some research. Hopefully thats correct for a 2009 DBS.

Ok so I got the battery backup metal box out. did a power test at the 3 prongs, 2 power 1 ground? Got a reading of 5.48 volts. So I took it apart. Look just as good as it was made in 2008 , no leakage and the board perfect. Power reading at the battery was 6.28. The good : is the battery is a 6.28 volts, hard to believe after 17 years. But only 16,000 miles and always garaged with battery tender on. The bad : why did the alarm service come on in the screen near the tach. Boy how I hate electrical issues. I think back of the days when I had my Dalesman and Greeves off road bikes in the 70's. At least the DBS doesn't use wentworth size wrenches and sockets.Sorry my mind was squirreling. So I guess tomorrow I put it all back together and check the connections. So how do I erase the service message on the screen? Thanks and HAPPY Good New Year to ALL
while you have it out you should replace the battery in it. A damaged circuit board is usually the cause of that DTC...perhaps it is not functioning for a reason other than battery leakage....?
Battery not leaking and has 6.48 output, so I would think the battery is ok? New battery would be the same. I agree the battery is 2008, even though the output is 6.48, something must be wrong. What about on the circuit board there is a small round gray piece that says 5V on the top. Should that be replaced. The board looks perfect. The DBS is in the garage for winter storage, so I have time to look at some maintenance. Like I have 2 codes 078E and 07EE
while you have it out, record the part number. pop it back in for a moment, lock the car with remote then use the metal key to open the door to trigger the alarm...see if it is working. or maybe alarm with you inside and move about to activate the motion sensor. my 2009 V8V has low alarm volume, i pulled it out to check and circuit board was also OK (no battery leakage). perhaps it had been replaced sometime by previous owner. I unsoldered the battery from the board and installed a remote battery pack with AA lithium batteries. anyway, if it doesn't activate, try replacing the unit. capacitors and such don't last forever. some module is looking for a "heartbeat" signal from that alarm module and is not getting it (or it is and that module is faulty)

I don't remember ever getting an actual key when I purchased my Aston 5 years ago from the buyer. He said he would sent it to me and never received one. There isn't a key in the keyfob , like some cars?. Any place you can get one from the VIN?
these guys made mine https://phoenixbespokekeys.com/ from VIN
had to show my title or bill of sale
worth the $400, but you could get a local locksmith to make one. it is a 6 disc Tibbe key and they can stick a "decoder" in your lock to get the correct disc heights. call around

I saw them when I did a search. so I was looking in my DBS owner's guild. On section 2 page 3 There is an emergency key located in the vehicle key holder. I look in the guide but can't find anywhere in the guide where the key holder is located. Any one know where the vehicle key holder is located? Thanks
Sounder is looking for a 12v source for backup to a 12v system. I'm just saying you most likely need 12v regardless from the pack. These cars will usually give the same warning with a depleted main battery and wen replacement of a main vehicle battery you will have to wait for the sounder battery to recover. Several threads on here of replacement of sounder batteries. Codes will not clear until it sees the correct voltage back to the CEM.
