In fact, I have been contemplating putting a casual group together for Aston owners to turn out, since it is apparently like herding cats with us to organize anything. If anyone is interested, I will start putting together some potential events in an email format initially and then see how it develops. I have been going to the C&C at Casa Azul coffee in South Tampa recently, which are sporadic, but great events (and Carlos has GREAT Mexican coffee). I usually turn out with the Suncoast Jaguar Car Club for some events as an 'honorary member'. PM me if anyone is inclined to be included. I think the farthest drives/events we have done are a few drives out to Streamsong, near Sarasota, and St. Armand's Circle a few times (coming from south Tampa).
I started the Midwest Aston Martin Group about 17 years ago here in Minneapolis. There is a small fraction of Aston Owners (especially back then) compared to Florida. Basically when I saw another Aston I'd flag them down and get their name, number and E-Mail asking if they would be interested in drives. Today I have 85 owners on the list. We sometimes will meet at a car show, but mostly take drives to a restaurant or winery - could be a 20 minute drive or up to a few hours. Almost always a different location. Some new owners, mostly previous Vantages. Up to now I just did last minute drives (I work 7 days a week), but this year will be more organized. Because of the last minute, it can be as small as two other cars or up to 10 cars. Always a different restaurant, mostly not fancy - we have some really terrible food but mostly good, but its always fun. While Aston Martin Corporate is well aware I've done more to energize Aston owners than the dealer's efforts, they have never contributed or tried to help. When they found out I was to create a Midwest Astons website, the dealer immediately used that name to tie up the name so I could not use it! I ended up creating Midwest Aston Group website but have since changed to Facebook. I'm not great at routes, and I drive at or under the speed limit if I have a larger group to keep everyone together, pretty much keeping a rear view awareness of everyone. It gets interesting the few times I take a wrong turn. below is a drive from 10 years ago.
here in Central Florida, our Aston and Lotus Dealer hosts a monthly cars and coffee, lots of brit cars and exotics. also we have a monthly british car club here as well... been to some of their events, but it's mostly older MG, Triumphs, etc.
it's nice to have extensive list of exotic dealers here... many nice cars are local
There is a guy who is active with an Aston group in Naples. He does regular group rides to restaurants, etc. He actively recruits members and I've seen him on other AM forums. He might have even pitched on this forum too.
He contacted me. I'm not much into the restaurant hopping. I like more tech stuff and hanging out with other tech types, but this group was only into restaurant hopping.
I was at this show last year and saw your car. There is another guy that drives a gray DB9 Volante. He is at most shows in this vicinity and I see him regularly at UTC CC.
I only put my car in one LWR show, the one they do on Wednesday nights (I think the first Wed of each month)
Not on any show day, but this was my car parked in front of the Starbucks on Main.
