Hard Wire Valentine 1

Does anyone know how to hard wire the Valentine 1 into the map light on the Vantage? What wires do I need to tap into?

This should help. This is on a Benzo, but you should be able to find the hot wire with a $10 multi meter from Radio Shack.

I had the dealer hardwire one for me during my car's last service visit. I don't recall what they charged, but I found it reasonable.
I do remember the advisor saying it was more difficult than they first thought , as my '06 doesn't use 12V map-lights. They had to run the cabling down an A pillar post to under the dash... which is evidently more difficult than it appears.

Well I may need to bite the bullet and let a pro do it. If I can't find the right wires I am afraid I am am going to hurt the car. My dealer is 200 miles away so its not worth messing things up. Bummer

I was told by my dealer to NOT go through the map lights. I took my time, threaded the wire accross the upper windshield, down the pillar and into the "test circuit" wire cluster (driver foot well) the dealer told me to use for power - my Escort now turns on and off w/ the ignition. I used an individual ground stud too, again all what the dealer recomended. They will also do the job for customers that are all thumbs.
