Distance to dealership and ownership question
I have a line on a 2007 AMV8 that still has 2 years of warranty. I live in Kansas City Missouri area and the closest Aston Martin dealership is located in St. Louis Missouri, 4 hour drive away. I am sure that I can find a local shop that can do the normal maintance on the Vantage but any warranty work would have to be handled at the dealership. What is the opinion on being this far away from a dealership and owning a Vantage? Would this be considered looking for a big headache? I talked with the Aston dealership and they stated that if the Vantage would not run or could not be driven they pay the cost to get it to the dealership but any small BS problems would need to be brought into the dealership. Thoughts?

The vantage has proven very reliable - check www.amoc.org for reports.
Have a local shop perform the work will surely void your warranty. If you can live with niggles for a couple months until you bi-annual or so visits to the dealer, you should be fine - the car itself is very reliable.

I am over 3 hrs from my dealer and for maintenance, it is a nice excuse to get away for a day. I leave at around 7am, get to the dealer at around 10:30 and they give me a loaner car. I hang out in Seattle for the day and usually get on the road by 4pm or so.

Talked to the dealer in St. Louis and he said that all service has to be done by Aston and my car has 2 factory recalls, gas cap and some valve needs to be replaced, no big deal. He also stated since it has been a year since the 1200 mile service it needed the first service for around $700. I let the seller know they needed to get all this done and then I would drive the car and we could come up with a deal. They are asking $99K for the 2007 AMV8 april build, window sticker was $127K so it was loaded for a 6 speed coupe. It is that light blue color that kind of turns green depending on angle in the sunlight. What would be a good price? The SL deprieciates about $1K per month can I expect the same with the Vantage? Also since I am not buying from the dealer no loaner car I get to use enterprize leasing (you would think they would be nice and give me a loaner for future potential purchases). But if the car isn't running like you guys said then Aston pays to flat bed it to and from the dealership. Thanks for the help.

Aston depreciation is very high unfortunately. The DB9 seems to have been the worst, with 2 year examples selling around new vantage price. - thats a 190k car selling for 120~...
Thats almost 60%!!!!
2 year old or so Vantages are around 80-90 from what I've seen, and from a 120k average sticker, that is only 25-30%...

2005/2006 cars w/ some mileage might be around $80-90; I've not read of someone actually paying that low for 2007 w/ 75 miles in "new" condition (as in it is not a "lemon" or been wrecked). This is where we get into auction vs buying at a dealer ... and there have been several posts about that - most quite negative.
Of course nego the best price you can ... good luck !
