Fair price for a 2008 Vantage Roadster?

I also posted this over on amoc.org, wanted to see if you guys had any thoughts too.

I took a test today in a 2008 V8 Vantage Roadster with speed shift. It's pretty loaded, MSRP would be around 145,000.

The car was wonderful, and the sales guy was good to work with. I'm interested in the car, but I do, however, have a few issues and reservations and wanted to get some input. The first issue is that car is the dealer demo car, and it has close to 2000 miles on the clock. It was also registered back in August, so the warranty clock started ticking four months ago.

The dealer is asking 119K. My guess is that this factors in a discount based on the car not really being "new" and also some factory cash. The 2009's are, of course, starting to trickle in so there's going to be some impact there too.

Anyone have any thoughts on what is or would be a fair value for this car? And how concerned should I be that the car is a demo?

thanks in advance for any input.

I test-drive a "new" 07 coupe few weeks ago with only 70 miles on it. The dealer gave me ~36k off the MSRP. I almost pull the triger. Since we got about a inch of snow the day after, I decided stay put for few months.

The prices are all over the place and the more powerful 09 is coming out soon. The economic situation is not helping for the sale as well. I am pretty sure you have much more room for the price at this point.

I would also say you have more room. $119K for a demo, already registered w/ 2k miles is too high if you want to consider re-sale value at some point.

Thanks guys. I'm coming to the conclusion that I could get a new 08 for the price of this used demo so there's clearly a fair bit of room on this one. If the dealer plays ball I'm certainly interested in it.

Here is an idea for the '08 - ask for the 4.3 Power Kit (~$5k) and the Sports Kit (suspension & wheels - ~$7.5k) to be installed/included for the $119k price. This gives you an extra 20 HP and the '09 Sports suspension package option - all is very good stuff and just about makes you car an '09 for a lot less money.
I have the Power kit installed on my '07 and am loking into the Sports kit also. My guess they will give you one or both w/ that price and the costs include some labor which the dealer can afford to play with.
I would be all over the car if it had this stuff installed !!!
Also a thought for the "new" '07 too ....

That's what I was thinking before. However, due to the economic, there are so many cars to choice from. The decision is getting harder and harder.

That's a great idea! I'll talk to the dealer.
