My car is going to the dealer for the first time for some very minor warranty work. i.e. The chrome molding on the passenger side window is a little loose and I need them to program my powerfold mirrors to close upon door lock. Anyways, my dealer asked if I wanted to change the oil as well. I said "sure, how much?" His reply was "$470" I asked him what that included but it is ONLY for the oil and 1 1/2 hours of labor time. I assumed that at that price it would include some inspection of some sort. I can get it done at my local independent mechanic for half. So I have 2 questions;

1. Does $470 sound about right for JUST an oil change on these cars?

2. I did a search and there was some discussion last fall about whether AM would void the warranty if the regualr service was not done at the dealer including oil changes. Did anybody follow-up on this? My independent mechanic is literally across the street from my office and I could save $250. Is it worth saving $250 for this? Can they really void my warranty?
