Michael 996TT is infamous around these parts
Yeah - I had a heavily modded 996tt (more than the video) - it certainly was faster than my Vantage w/ Power Kit/200 cats/RSC exhaust ... but for some reason I still have more fun driving the Vantage ... 19 months of happy ownership !

My 996TT cab had Evo Stage4 mods and I have to say that my Vantage with only a quicksilver exhaust is more fun. The sound, the soul and the interior feel of the car is just more satisfying. The 996TT was untouchable but I rarely had the opportunity to take advantage of that. It was more about exploring the limits of modification. Now I find myself enjoying this car in a number of driving circumstancs. I will probably add the power kit and maybe the Gruppe M RAM(if they knock the price down) but I'm not in any hurry and I don't feel any lack of satisfaction.

So you can appreciate the huge performance improvement that the SC gives the AMV8. Now it has the Bite to go with its Bark.

I'm about 8 miles from PES. I'm eager to see what develops of their SC to compare to yours. I would love to slap on 140 more HP. Has the sound of your car changed at all with the SC, and has the dealer had anything to say about it? I have only had my car for 8 months. I wanted to have a year with it before any serious mods but I'm getting itchy. By the way, was there any discussion of what the AM power kit would have done to the performance of your car with the SC? My bill for the Turbo mods was around 25K all said and done. I'm trying to stay under that figure with this car so if I go ahead with the SC in the future, I'm not sure if I want to add the AM power kit for 5K unless it drives the gain in HP of an SC even higher.

I would think that you're better off waiting if you're going to do the SC kit. While some of the HP from the power kit comes from the new intake manifold and the switching airflow valve, I'd think that most of it comes from software revision...and that would be wiped out by the tuning done for the SC kit. And the PES kit will be a roots blower essentially taking the place of the manifold so that will be gone, too. So in the long run you will be paying $4-5K for nothing. If you go with the ESX kit, you can keep the manifold, but I don't really know how that expansion manifold would do with supercharged air pulses coming through...could be fine but could be bad.

As for the sound, I'd like to know rmrmd's opinion on this, too, but it seems like the centrifugal blower from ESX is much quieter than a roots blower from PES will be, but the tradeoff is that the roots blower gives much better power down low.

Keep in mind this is just my 2 cents and YMMV.

Sound has changed. I'm running 200 cel CATS and that does make the car a little louder. I've kept fuse 22 in place for around town driving, but once you pass 4K it is noticeably louder than stock. The Vortec supercharger is ultraquiet, you cannot hear much whine at all. I believe the power kit is a waste of time if you are going to supercharge the engine. The ESX kit has all new pipes and the airboxes are modified to be completely open in the front.

Yes, the P car won. From 40 to 100mph the cars are essentially equivalent but the P car has more lungs and was about 5 car lengths ahead at 165mph. The P car is modified and fast. Compared to a stock AM, the supercharger makes a huge difference in performance. The SuperVantage accelerates on par with a 996GT2 or 997tt, but not quite as fast as a modded turbo. The stock AM by comparison is slower than a normal 996(non-turbo).
