Latest Tune
With 6.8 psi boost and racing Cats I was making 510HP and 371TQ. After I removed the Cats and went back to the stock Cats, I lost about 20HP and 10TQ. I have now had the car retuned and I gained back those losses and more! I'm now at 519HP and 378TQ. I have to thank Ali again for his outstanding service and commitment to his customers. I have say that Osh, who retuned my car, is unbelievably knowledgeable. I watched the tune and realized that the same thing could be done to non-supercharged cars and an easy 30HP to the wheels could be gained, maybe more, in my opinion. I spoke to Ali about this and he was open to the idea. A couple of nice things about this are that it would not likely be detected by the dealer (ECU unchanged) and it would be a start towards the supercharger (use some of the same electronics). Food for thought!
Thank-you Osh.

Very nice ... that is where the car should be !!! If I have the updtaes correct you were getting some faults from the ECU that might have been from the "open" cats (200 cell or just totally open? So you dumped the "racing cats" went back to stock and they retuned to even better HP. If io am correct someone has their act together w/ the ECU ... and the idea of an ECU "tune up" is a home run ... especially if 30 HP w/ stock stuff. Am I missing anything ?

hmmm ... a person would probably come to the "ad-Vantage" conclusion that:
1) an open airbox (and there are some details here on the box) w/ maybe a K&N filter
2) a ECU re-program by someone that has experience
3) after market exhaust (or maybe a stock one w/ valves open - and I do not mean pull fuse 22 - just pull the small hoses; fuse 22 can cause a ECU issue even if no "fault" shown on dash)
... can give you 30+ HP (410-420 ?) and even further out on a limb, could possibly be called - reliable as stock.
And please do not take issue w/ SC - they can be reliable too. My thoughts are, we are finally getting to simple "grass roots" tuning that has been going on w/ P-cars for over 10 years ... and again w/ reliable results, for about a 10% HP increase vs. stock - w/o turbos or SCs inistalled.
Next question would be ... during the ECU re-tune, can they make a throttle response change from AM one-to-one mapping to something more aggressive like a Cayman S or BMW E46 M3 ?

I'm not sure I understand the question but they were able to improve my low speed drivability with some tweeks, giving the car much better city acceleration.
They have not done this to a stock AMV8 yet, but I suggested there might be a market for it among the speedaholics on this board! You would need to call Ali and talk to him about it.
