Loose intake, light squeak from belt, daily NYC pounding?
Hi Guys,
Was at Captree week and half ago, and while the engine cover was open, two guys walked by and one noticed that the Y-shaped intake was loose. One guy was a mechanic, and told me while it is unlikely to fall off or become too lose, I should have someone look into it. We nudged it back into position, but the fact I could nudge it by hand felt too loose for comfort. Is this the result of NYC spring driving? (roads are chewed up from this brutal winter)
Then yesterday while I was warming up the car, my colleague walked by and told me there was a light squeak from the belt. Now that I pay attention, it's heard quite clearly when the car turns around corners and the momentum shifts. A cause for concern? (I know the ill effects of belt squeaks, just wondering whether this is especially bad on a performance vehicle)
30k service is coming up, building my laundry list of items to address.

Yes there was a service bulletin - actually a series/supply of brackets for the belt that came out slightly bent from the supplier - AM replaced mine very early and no issues since (shims were not the issue nor a fix). Might want to see if yours was a part of "bad batch" or might need a shim added/tightened. I have had my air intake hose come loose too, large black Y tube - pushed it back on a tightened the clamp ... was result of some serious driving on back roads

Thanks for the info. Bumpy twisty roads and hot engine seem to really loosen the connection of the rubber air intake hose. I'm surprised they didn't choose to hold this important component together with bolts.
I tightened it over the weekend, still in good shape after one weekend of aggressive driving. As for the squeak, it's less noticeable now.

I don't even want to think about driving the car through NYC. The traffic and roads are horrible enough in NJ. When I went to the Auto Show over the weekend I just took the ferry. Absurdly nice day for a boat ride too.
