Also a warranty job for me ... no leaks/issues after repair. My only comment is 17k on car and then it happened ? Mine was much earlier .... and have read most posts/folks had this issue much earlier ... again just a comment/observation.

I had the same problem on my car and my friend had the same problem on his. Both resolved under warranty, both 07s. Our mechanic says he has seen the problem often. Now watch for a leak under the oil separator, mine has failled twice, both fixed under warranty. Mine has less than 9,000 miles.

Just to chime in - My older 07 had the same issue at 6,000km and was fixed under warranty.

As you are seeing, I had heard this was a very common problem with 07 models.

Apparently, my car had this too an dthe previous owner fixed it out of his pocket before I had purchased it, the cost on the receipt was also 2800ish...When I spoke to the dealer about why it happened...

They said..."drive your car or SH*& starts breaking, when you dont drive her..."

So I felt better about daily beating mine

Mine occurred early (2 years, 7 miles) and was repaired under warranty. I was told this is common.

Wow... seems like almost every 2007 V8V owner has this problem. Anyone with a 2008+ experience this issue?

Thanks for all the feedback guys

I'd assume mine was fixed, going to check the service logs tonight.... When I bought it the car had 26k miles already.

I agree with the dealers though, drive this car often and problems don't happen. The more I drive it, the less issues appear.

I did not have the problem in the time I owned the car but sold it with 5 or 6k on it. AM had one of the best dealer service programs I have experienced. I live 140 miles from a dealer and they sent a single car flatbed to my house on 3 different occasions for warranty or service work.
Since you are so recently out of warranty, you might petition for an exception.
Oddly enough (and I say that just because of the conception that euro dealers have better service than american ones) I had a low miles Viper that was out of warranty. I had a problem that seemed odd for the use and mileage of the car and I sent a request to Dodge for an exception to warranty timeframe and the accepted it and performed the work under warranty.
CAnt hurt.....especially since the problem is so common.

We asked the dealership if they could goodwill it since 1) the car was bought from them three months ago, 2) the warranty ran out 1.5 months ago and 3) they were the one to do the PPI and gave it a clean bill of health.

They still denied it unfortunately

wow, that set of circumstances sucks. I would avoid that dealership entirely. Not to start a situation or anything, but you might but I would like to know which one that is so I can be sure and avoid them in the future.
Maybe you should send the GM a link to this thread!!

O exotic car expenses...One of the reasons I went with a 996tt over the Vantage was for the "bulletproof engine" and reliability (as well as nearly 1/2 off sticker price). But, I've had the car for two months and took it in for a whiny belt which turned into a tensioner/pulley/belt replacement totaling $2100 ($120 an hour rate also). I've got an aftermarket warranty, but they are saying this is all maintenance and won't cover it (*** hats).

I also had a ignitiion switch go bad on the car, a very common problem on the 996tt as it seems this issue is with the Vantage. Porsche wanted $525 for a new switch/lock (again warranty would not cover this). I ended up buying a VW/Audi ignition switch on ebay for $17.50 and fixed it myself in about two hours. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...blem-help.html

Finally, the weather proofing strip on the driver's window was whistling at highway speeds. Porsche wanted like $300+ to replace it. I got a foam wedge at home depot for $1.25 and inserted it where it can't be seen and the problem is fixed. Avoid the stealership at all costs or they'll rob you blind (another reason why I change my own oil in 40 minutes for $70 as opposed to $250).

What are you going to do, you gotta pay to play .

Thanks for the info in this thread guys; I'll keep it in mind when I'm back in the market for a Vantage in a couple years.

Doing things yourself? Gasp, that's not the "Aston Way", LOL.

My motto after Aston Martin ownership: "Avoid the dealership as much as you can, so you can save money and put it aside for the days when a trip is absolutely necessary."

Not looking forward to the clutch job, that's why I drive light.
