ECU reprogramming in 07 AMV8-pros/cons

My 07 AMV8 4.3L manual transmission is almost out of warranty and I am considering having the ECU flashed/reprogrammed by an aftermarket supplier. I have been tracking my car pretty extensively and would like to have a little more HP. I have already installed the AM sport suspension without the AM wheels and that was a big improvement. The AM power upgrade seems rather pricey at 5K--I am looking for the best bang for the buck. I am not interested in supercharging or turbocharging it.

One of my biggest concerns is passing the tight smog inspections/regulations here in California. Durability and reliability is also a priority.

Anyone with experience and comments regarding the various options available?

For those of you with the RSC ECU upgrade-- have you had your car smogged? or otherwise tested to see if it will pass inspection. I would hate to install the upgrade and then have to pull it off to pass smog testing. The dealer states that it will not pass, yet that may be totally self serving. The AM power upgrade will pass according to the dealer, yet $5000 for 20 HP is pretty steep.

My car inspects and gets better gas mileage. The reprogramming has never been an issue. I have had 2 warranty repairs since and no issues from the dealer. It's said to say but AM short changed the car from the beginning. The reprogramming is kind of a no brainer. The remap of the sportsshift, is even more dramatic.

Also have the RSC tune on my car, 6 months into it and no issues other than car is much better. Drives better, shifts better, smoother power curve and sounds growlier

So what is the advantage/disadvantages of using the RSC flash vs the AM power upgrade?

Obviously the cost is more with the power upgrade, but how much more HP than the RSC flash?

Our ECU map as a standalone mod should outperform the AM N400 upgrade. Combined with high-flow cats/exhaust/filters, it will outperform the 4.7L cars.

Advantage of the AM upgrade is it is backed by the factory so if you are under warranty that's nice. Advantage of our ECU map is that it is backed by a $1,000,000USD insurance policy covering your engine, and it is less than 40% of the cost....

Call Park Place Aston Martin on (425) 748-0124 and ask for Vincent. He recently installed our full power pack on a customer's Vantage and they are an authorized RSC Dealer. Tell him I sent you.

I think they have one of our 'Sports' exhaust systems in stock that he mightgive you a good deal on too!

Had my ECU upgraded. No issues and love the additional boost from it. Nothing crazy different, but it is noticable. Good bang for the buck.
