Throttle response?

Do any of you guys find the throttle response lacking in the low rev range. It seems that the throttle is pretty sluggish until 3500.

I find it very hard to heel toe in the car. Blipping the throttle only blips the revs to 3000.

I'm going to get the RSC exhaust and (later) the flash, so I'm hoping this will help.

Yes. The RSC flash is worthwhile, but it isn't transformative. This is just the character of the car.

Having driven both cars recently, I can attest 100% the V12V has amazing throttle response in sport mode.

You may want to call Stuart at RSC and talk with him. For better throttle response you may want to look at RSC cats over exhaust, the stock cats are real restrictive. Next week I am having RSC cats, ECU reprogram, and air filters put on. The lazy throttle response drives me crazy too. After my car is done I will post my impressions of the upgrades.

The RSC upgrades are nice but will not change the low end throttle response (upper end yes) - neither does the AM Power Kit - have not found anything yet that will change the lower end. 2nd the nature of this car. You just have to grab it by the back of the neck and mash - when I drive it harder it performs better - old muscle car personality ...

My AM V8 manual has sports exhaust and power package but low end throttle response is still sluggish cause the AM tech told me upfront that the car uses a different system than say a Porsche 911 that has great throttle response at low rpms...it's just the nature and character of the car. I think it's a well known fact that folks don't drive AM for pure speed cause so many cars are much faster...Aston is appealing as an overall package being unique and classy etc and yet has a little speed. I spoke to Dr Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston lately and he told me upfront that he is not building Astons for top speed but for overall appeal which I can understand. Unfortunately, most AM owners want the overall appeal plus top speed in its category. Even the highest end One-77 model is not the fastest in class with 700 hp although most expensive.

what about a lightweight flywheel? i haven't driven a 4.7L (comes with a lighter flywheel, right?), but maybe that will help if you've got a 4.3L.

Good thought - but lighter flywheel did not make a difference. Very unique set up w/ Vantage V8. BTW 4.7 and 4.3 are the same set up ...

The 4.7 does have a lighter flywheel and revised clutch, but they are apparently not interchangeable with the 4.3.

is the Vantage drive by wire? if so, what about something like this?

http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/tu...ler/index.html

long story short: it adjusts the way the drive-by-wire behaves. apparently they're made to be vehicle-specific, but it could probably be done for the Vantage, too.

That's essentially what a sprint booster does but there's not one available for the Vantage.

I talked w/ a guy at Sprint booster a year or so ago - they were not sure about a Vantage w/ auto gears but a 6 speed might work w/ a booster they had for Mustang. They looked at set up and looked very similar (that Ford connection again). At that time they thought they had a local person that might volunteer their car (they are located in Canada) and give it a try. I did not follow up.

rsc has a lighter flywheel available or in the works, that should help with throttle response due to less mass being rotated. but then again, your car might no longer be drivable in the city, lol, imagine F1 redlining, lol
