Alternative shocks for DB9 Volante

Hi, new here – just bought a 2007 DB9 Volante. So excited I can barely sleep!

The car is immaculate but with 20000 miles on it the shocks are all over the place. The dealer agrees that they are unbalanced although apparently they’re still within Aston specs, but the car corkscrews as it goes over speed bumps and the left front hits the bump stop.

Has anyone experimented with non-OEM shocks? Not trying to sound cheap but I’m not sure I want to spend $5k in the first week of ownership, and after-market shocks may be better anyway. Sorry, I know that’s heresy, but I thought I’d ask…

It feels like it could go quite a bit firmer but it’s difficult to tell what they were like originally - plus the fact I just came from an Elise so everything feels soft after that…

Thanks.
Rob.

Since no one gave you a response let me recommend a phone call - Eddie at Adrenaline Racing - (503) 697-3311 - he gave me some great advice on aftermarket brake pads (and I ordered them thru him). we talked about suspensions - for 5K you could get far and probably have something much better than stock. I also believe he has experience w/ Lotus so you would have some common ground on handling ...

Loving the excitement Rob! I don't know the answer to this, trying to find out, but we are about to release a full coilover package for the AMV8. I know that for example the hubs, brakes, filters and several other components are the same on the V8 as the DB9 so I wouldn't be entirely surprised if these might work. Just a stab in the dark but I'll look into it.

Why not just sent the shocks into Bilstein for a full rebuild? If you send the shocks to them they back it with a lifetime warranty. As far as I understand it Bilstein was the original OEM maker of the shocks on the DB9.

Hi,
thank you for your post, it was nice of you to answer.
Only thing is that I would like to have two new shocks.
I dont trust AM original if I dont know they are Bilstein.

Best regards
Lars
