Other forums for Aston Martin
ihave been lurking and learning as I am interested in trading up from my Prosche 997 to an Vantage. Are there other usefull forums for an Aston Vantage? I find both 6Speed and Rennlist helpfull for Porsche information.
You may need a decoder ring
Pistonheads is a forum arranged similar to 6speed, but in Britspeak. I recognize it as English, however, their extensive use of unique slang/idioms cause me to think and decipher almost every post. Good info, however, AM iintroduces new product first in the UK, and Rick, a mechanic/businessman who operates DMS, a non-Company repair facility, is a regular contributer with high quality technical answers.

Britspeak for sure! It takes some deciphering over time. Maybe someone should make a list of slang and it's associated "merican translation".
Example: Hoon=drive/cruise
Spanner=Wrench
Gutted=sad/sorry
Pissed=Drunk......... Anyone else?

We prefer to think of it as more exclusive. ;-) For every Aston produced there is probably 10 P-cars. Therefore the numbers in the forum reflect this. While this is not the most active forum, there are some great people on here with good knowledge and enthusiasm. I know I have learnt from many and would not have modded my car without the forum. Best of all, no a-holes. I frequent the Audi A5/S5/RS5 forum. It is quite active, probably like P-cars, but is filled with a few characters let's just say...
Rather than being a subforum of another site, www.aston.co is looking to start something to change that -- with additional amenities
I have simply scrolled through lots of threads with questions related to what I was researching. Unlike many forums, there doesn't seem to be an FAQ or DIY section. I will add DIY's as I modify and service my Aston in the coming months, years. I am a qualified mechanic and have been servicing cars from Lotus Esprit's to Mazda rotary engine turbo cars.

This may help decipher the mother tongue

Piston heads has an OK FAQ and some great DIY's in the Aston section the search function is just crap

AMOC is just very slow and dry
