Valentine One installation

Any suggestions on where to install a Valentine One in a Vantage Roadster? Also, does anyone use the concealed display and if so where is the display installed? Thanks.

I am still waiting for someone to develope the V1 mirror display. If they ever do I will get it. I would then install the detector on the rear shelf which should get it a full 360 degree coverage.

Any brave souls want to take on that challenge for us?

I just purchased a V1 and my dealer is installing it via hardwire tomorrow. I looked for a long time for a mirror mount but unfortunately I was not able to locate anything. I am having them use the suction cup mounts and I guess I will have a little wire running down the windshield. I am not using the concealed display as I couldn't find a place to put it without it looking silly. I am hoping to get it done tomorrow. Not an ideal install but it should work. The other issue is that I might lose some of the rear detection ability as it won't sit low enough on the windshield. Not sure though. I will try and take pics tomorrow or Tuesday.

The stealth mirror installs are the most logical choice ...

I am not an expert on the subject, but just did a google search for some possible options for you ... Perhaps these links/pics will help you out:

Thanks for the mirror install photos but the problem with that approach is where do you put the actual radar detector (as opposed to the display). If you have to mount the detector on the windshield with suction cups, then there is no benefit to adding a concealed display in the mirror. If I put the detector on the windshield, not sure where the best location on the windshield is or whether a concealed display makes sense (and, if so, where does the concealed display get mounted). Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I will probably want to pursue the hardwire route. Can anyone help me find a 12v power source up near the light/mirror? I dont mind having the actually unit sticking on my windsheild.

Heres how most guys with M3s do it, which is what I have in my DD:

http://m3.madrussian.net/diy_valentine_v1.shtml

All we need to do is find a constant power source, and a standard screw for ground. The V1 already comes with the hardwire kit.

As I stated earlier ... rear shelf might not be a bad location since it is high enough to have direct line of site to front and rear. It shouldnt be hard to find a 12v line to tap i to since there are quite a few wires under the rear shelf. Hope that helps

I have a roadster so there is no rear shelf. Thus the V1 needs to go somewhere on the windshield.

I just purchased a V1 today from my dealer and they installed it via hardwire. The V1 is mounted on my winshield under the rear view mirror with the wire hanging down about 3 inches which follows the contours of the windshield. It was hardwired to the fusebox. I was told NOT to use the map lights or Homelink for power. Forgot the reason why but it made sense.

Anyway, I'm not 100% crazy about having the wire hang down as the windshield has such a strong rake it looks a little weird from the front of the car having a black wire on the windshield. I need to play around with it during the next few days to see if I can mount it better. I am real picky and determined to make this work better. I will post pics when I am done. I wish someone would make a mirror mount like there is for BMW, Porsche, etc.

I had seen a thread way back about a very unique installation of a V1 system, took me a while to find it.

Here's the link: (4th & 5th Picture)

Unfortunately "AMLV8" this is not going to help you with your Roadster.

That is a cool install but if I were going through the trouble to do that I would install a K40, etc. Like I said earlier I am going to play around with the mounting location and wires in the coming days. Hopefully I can get it to look good.

That's a VERY clever V1 install ... That is exactly what I had in mind, stealth mirror + mount behind front seats. Any more info on that other than pics?.

Very good find. here are the pics for those who don't want to have to link over:

Wow ... $3k is too much. Very clean install but not worth that price. I will just invest in the best traffic lawyer instead. They have amazing ways of just making tickets disappear .
