Public service announcement: Dont text and drive!
SubscribeWas stopped at a light...lady behind me was texting on her phone, didnt notice her car was rolling forward and bumped me pretty hard. I felt so bad - it was some old lady in a red civic. Anyways its a pure bummer, and the damage was pretty minor but luckily the bumper override (not sure what its called) did its job. Since i hate blemishes on my cars, it will need to be fixed regardless.
Anybody know if i can source this specific piece?

i have a scratch on mine in the cap as well. here is the bad news, the cap itself is only like $40 plush painting, but you can't remove it without removing the bumper, which also means removing most of the trunk. It's like 8 hours of work.

Wow thats robbery. Im going to take it to my local and trusted body shop guy to see if he can fix the blemish for a more reasonable price. Ill likely just instruct him to fix it without removing the whole bumper and trunkOriginally Posted by zambono

Texting and talking on the phone are worse than driving drunk. The danger is about equal but at least people that decide to drive drunk decided to do so while their decision making ability was impaired. There's no excuse for the others.
Mine was damaged as well. I went to a local body shop and they told me the same thing--the bumper would have to be removed to change out the piece. In the end they just sanded it down, applied a little filler, masked it off and painted. Looks spot on. I believe the total cost was approx. $380.
As mentioned before the good news is that the bumper stops cost $21 each from the dealer. Bads news is the connecting bolts are located behind the re bar which means the whole bumper needs to be removed for install. Not the best scenario.
