How Often Do You Drive Your Aston
How Often Do You Drive Your Aston
I purchased my 07 Vantage about two months ago, and its been an absolute thrill to drive. I'm 54, and this car was a retirement gift to myself, as I retired from my job after 33 years. I've already started my new job, in sort of a second career, but I make time to enjoy this car, even with all the hours I work. I drive my Vantage about three or four times a week, usually at night on some smoothly paved, winding and twisting roads in my area. The car has become my personal entertainment center. There's only a few other things that put a smile on my face....like the feeling I get when I'm traveling those winding roads, shifting through the gears, and listening to the sound of that wonderful exhaust note.
I've always been a sports car guy, with my last being a 911, which went by the wayside many years ago after I got married. For me, the Vantage has become a personal yet theraputic toy, or diversion from life's everyday stress. I realize everyone's situation is different, as members of this forum might use their cars occasionally, or as everyday drivers, or take them to the track. I live in the midwest, where we can have some pretty tough winters, so I will be leaving mine in the garage during inclement weather.
I was an auto mechanic in my younger days, and I know that when cars sit for long periods without being driven, your inviting problems. I've spoken with several Aston mechanics, or service technicians as they're referred to today about this issue. They said that overall, the cars that are driven regularly seem to have far less problems than the cars that become garage queens.....just food for thought.
My question to members of this forum.......is how often do you drive your cars????

im about 3-4 times a week as well assuming work doesnt send me away for weeks or months at a time.
im far less worried about miles put on the car as i am the car sitting for too long.
same mentality goes for the way i drive. i try and make sure i push the engine once in a while as ive heard its good to do so. i notice an improvement in fuel economy afterwards as well

I drive mine about once a week on average, but sometimes go 2-3 weeks without driving it. I love it, but I've had other cars that are better daily drivers...and mine isn't exactly stock. I just picked up an X5M which is my daily driver and the Vantage is not getting used much these days.
Your absolutely correct about putting your foot into it once in awhile. The V8V is a thoroughbread that is made to be driven. While the car is wonderful to drive at the speed limit.....occasionally, find a nice road where you can safely push the car now and then. If driven regularly, and pushed once in awhile, these cars will perform better, with less chance of problems.
Every Friday to and from work and all weekend. Some days I drive her on Monday to/from work too because it's hard parting with her after the weekend. My dd is an E39 M5. I used to think it was fast.

3 times a week roughly! If the wheather is good, then I tend to change cars 2-3 times a day. Too many cars to choose from and also family obligations, which are difficult to fullfill in a Db9!
I bought it April 2010, started driving mostly on the weekends, my office allocated me a space in a covered parking garage last May 2011, ever since, I have been driving it everyday.. I can't tell how things will go when winter hits, but I already have my winter tires ready for the winter battle this year.. I will try my best to drive it even if it is snowing..
Yesterday I went for a 3 hour ride along the Austrian mountains, I think I know the smile you talked about CTP855.. Here is a phone photo from my trip in the twisty roads

Every day it doesn't snow. Can't get enough. Don't care about the mileage. Never know how long we have on earth, not gonna miss out on enjoying to protect resale value. More value in enjoying it now.
Well put!
I drive mine 3-4 times a week, when I am not carrying bikes, kayaks or other gear. I usually fill up every two weeks or so. I do try to avoid rush hour traffic, though.
Used to drive it every weekend until I picked up another toy last December (BMW S1000RR). Nowadays only once a week on average (last week drove it every day since my dd is in body shop). It's been the only car that I don't turn on the radio and rather listen to the engine & exhaust.
