Front plate holder removal

I recently purchased a DB9 (absolutely in love with it!) which has a license plate holder attached to the front. I live in FL so it isn't required to have this now, what's involved in taking it off? I quickly took the plate off and looked at it and it looks like there's a giant hole through the front bumper and I didn't see any screws that were securing it, so I figured I'd just ask here first before messing with it as I'm sure someone here already knows the answer. Thanks!

Ouch. My Vantage did not come with a front holder, and I live in FL too.

It's super easy.
1_Remove the licence plate
2_Remove (approx 3) Torx screws on the plastic unit
3_Then 4 more Torx screws to remove metal plate
4_Then 4 metal studs which require a 12 or 13mm wrench to un-thread & your done.

There aren't any visible screws, that's the issue.

Here's a pic of the plate holder

Here's the plate holder with the plate on...

And here it is off, there aren't any screws visible in any of those holes, and the large hole in the middle looks like it goes down into the front of the car.

Hmm, that's strange. Almost looks like it's attached with adhesive. Regardless, it appears that there is a hole in the bumper that will be visible once the plate holder is gone.

All DB9s and DBS's have that 'hole' That's where you screw in the towing eye hook that's in the trunk (or is supposed to be).

There is a plastic 'plug' that fills the hole (it plugs into the screw threads) and it is painted body color. Just look at E-bay photos for a DB9, you'll see the plug.

Somebody 'should' have given the original owner that plug after having installed the plate holder.

I realize that this is an old thread, but in case someone still needs more info, I hope this helps. I just had the front license plate mount on my '05 DB9 removed. I believe that the set up is the same as pictured on boosting1bar's car. The front bumper cover had to be removed as the attaching bolts are on the inside. The holes then had to be repaired. It really wasn't that big a deal (for me anyway, all I did was write a check), and the results were well worth it.
