Real world 2006.5/2007 vantage pricing.

Ok looking to get into another Aston, modern one this time. I have been looking at a number of 2006.5/2007 manual coupes lately. Been following a few no reserve auctions on eBay and have visited the local dealer. Kind of having a hard time with what is a good price, manhiem is useless as there is just no data. Below are the two that have actually sold.

What I want is a 30kish mile Vantage, stock, black/silver/brg

Two no reserve cars on ebay sold.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rare-...item3cbb86a715

2006.5 sold at 51K.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VANTA...item45fcd7e6fa

2007 lower mileage 58.1K lost by ~200$

Is it even reasonable to assume that these are the actual real selling prices or are these outside the norm or shill bidders and dealers just sit on cars and list them in the 70's and hope that they sell them.

I'm no expert but I've been following the price of vantages for exactly one year now. These prices are CRAZY low but the mileage is kinda high on at least the first one.

I know but these are the only ones that have actually sold. You can ask anything you want but at the end of the day its what people are willing to pay.

Also I imagine that these would be due for a clutch in the future. Not a hard job and would run me ~2.2K in parts and a solid weekend of work.

I'm no expert on eBay and would probably never buy a car on it but I see more than the two that have only sold you speak of.

Here is an 07 with 23k for example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Aston...t_16319wt_1167

It went for over 68k and is a "desirable" color combo. The others you posted had red interiors that may be a turn off. Service history is also key.

You should also look at the best offers that are completed but no sale and look at the highest bid. This is also a way to see what people are willing to pay.

Sportshift might actually be worth more at least they seem to ask more for sportshifts. I have seen nothing really selling, the market has got to be really soft. Plus no real benefit to buying from a dealer as they don't certify cars.

Looking at the highest offers as well still all over the board. I like the BRG color and that seems to be 5-6K off everything else. I kind of like the red interior, in the right color, and that seems to be a reduction in price as well. Best case would be BRG with saddle interior 6 speed.

I have ~60K or so to spend then another 5K or so for thing that pop up in the first year or two. No loan no fuss just straight up buy. Just need to get into right so that when I want to upgrade, and a will that I don't take a complete bath.

I studied the market on these cars for a good bit of time prior to buying mine. I bought an 07 SS with about 11.6 on the clock. The car was MINT, looked brand new, and had all the right options. Clutch shifts nice and crisp. I too wanted to buy the car "right" so when its time to upgrade I wont take a bath. The dealership had posted real bad photos of the interior online which made it look like a lipstick red, when it was a much darker burgundy/wine color (Iron Ore).

Colors are real important on these cars...so be weary in buying a color that is much cheaper than the rest, as it will be equally difficult to get out of...

I have access to the Manheim dealer auction data, and it seems like these cars are going at the auctions for 62-68k, with anywhere from 8-20k miles. SS does command a bit of a premium. By the way, this info pertains mainly to 2007 year cars.

If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me a PM...its a magnificent car, and I feel a sense of occasion every time I sit in it...best of luck in your hunt!

PS...dont worry TOO much about resale...cars are a hobby after all!

I think you should get whatever color you like, and not worry about the resale value. If it's an unpopular color, you'll get a better deal on it, so it's a wash in the end.

My car is a twin of the second ebay car in the OP--a 2007 onyx black with a black interior but red seats and door panels. I bought it 6 months ago from a private seller for $62K, when it had 17K miles on it.

I thought I got a good deal, but these two linked above are really cheap. Apparently prices have dropped in the last half year, because I didn't see any cars--particularly from dealers--actually selling for amounts like this.

The deal of the year, though, was a 2009 with 40K miles, that sold in a no-reserve auction on eBay for $68K. That was about a month ago (it looks like it's no longer online, so I can't link to it).

By the way, that second eBay car that "sold" for $57.1K has been relisted, so one way or another, they didn't sell it for that.

(Sorry, I see that evil panda already pointed that out above.)

Yeah I know, weird. Kind of wish that I had bid a bit more, or it was a shill bidder of some type to knock the auction up to what they wanted to get.

Its a hobby but I enjoy the chase of a good deal as much as I enjoy the car. Good deal means when the next one comes along I am not taking a bath.

Biggest thing is that I am not entirely smitten with any of the ones that I have seen so far. Put a BRG with saddle in front of me and my idea of what is a good deal will change.

I did take a XKR coupe out and man is it a nice car, more DB9 then vantage but still fun. Plus dirt cheap compared to the Aston, better interior in my opinion as well.

Not even close on the interior IMO. Very nice car though.

Like you, I too enjoy the chase of a good deal...

The XKR and V8V are two entirely different cars..

I know, i know.

I just cannot do another 911 which really is in my mind the vantage rival. I am so sick of Porsche and there cap. My wife like the two door Maserati but again different type of car. .

I researched the Vantage V8 for over a year before buying my 2007 this past June. Prices seem to vary, but ultimately, it's what your willing to pay and feel comfortable with. I bought my car from an authorized Aston dealership. The car is Titanium in color, black interior, manual transmission, upper teens in mileage. It's was a one owner car, and the dealer had the service history. The carfax revealed the car was involved in one accident.....which I learned was just a scratch on the rear bumper, and had been repaired. I paid 59K for this car, plus 5K for a two-year extended Aston Martin warranty....total cost 64K.

Everyone likes buying a new car, but let's face it, they all depreciate. I would suggest you take your time and shop around for the right car. Sometimes the lowest priced car isn't always the best deal, for what it might cost you in the long run. Many feel that the Aston extended warranty isn't very good, but my car had to be inspected thoroughly before it was issued. I talked with the technician who inspected and serviced my car. He said it was in exellent condition and had no issues.

Again, take your time and try to find the right car for the right price.

60K at a dealer with minor story, sign me up. Locally the two that I have seen are 2007's with ~30K miles no warranty at the Aston dealer. Both have small little cosmetic issues, both ~72K. Both not in what I would call ideal colors.

Guess I need to expand the search outside the state and see what pops up.
