Vantage track day pictures and thoughts

Went on a track day with my Vantage over the weekend at Donnington Park.

Car performed well. No issues. Handling was good although there was some understeer around corners when I turned off the traction control

Spun the car twice where the back end lost traction over some damp patches.

I recommend everyone to take their car to a track day and get to know it better. I learnt more about the dynamic and limits from my car in 1 day then the 3 months I have owned it.

Some pics from the day

There seems to be something wrong with the location of the steering wheel on your car. If you're still under warranty, I would get that checked out if I were you.

A proper steering wheel location should look something like this:

Understeer without traction control? Thats surprising.

Guess the understeer wasn't as severe on the damp patches though?

Not really. Most road cars are set up to understeer to some degree.

Thats true, but on RWD the traction control limits your ability to power through to oversteer, which is why it surprising that switching off TC gives understeer, I've always known the opposite

True, you would think switching it off would allow you to lessen understeer with use of the throttle (but it wouldn't actually change the propensity of the car to understeer). Maybe it's just the way I first read the comment, but now that I reread it, it does seem to imply he got more understeer when he switched it off!

As with Vergis, the original poster, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the V8V on track. Still a road car, and a heavy one at that, but decent turn-in and remarkably nice to balance on the throttle with TC off. My track driving was limited to dry and fairly hot days (no damp patches like Vergis), and with RE11 tires, but I found the car quite resistant to breaking traction at the rear. A good thing on track in my book!
